Very similar to this:

I did it a bit differently and pushed them out through force from the backside.

Yes. Look up under there and push them out from behind. Look at the replacement ones to see how the clips line up.

Not necessary for this particular job and quite overpriced.

So I have an 16' m235 and bought the reflectors for the car from **********s. I confirmed that the part numbers are OEM and identical.

However on closer inspection, the parts themselves are subtly different. The new ones have small bumps around the perimeter where as the factory amber ones do not.

Also, I can't get them to press in. It's like the tabs aren't long enough to clear the holes in the bumper. It wedges tightly into there but doesn't click in –*so it just pops out again easily. It's also taken a bit of paint off the bumper due to the rounded bumps on the marker.

Any ideas?

Pauly

Can you take a picture of the back side of the factory ones compared to the painted ones that you received?

Can either PM or email us at info@ind-distribution.com and we can have a look at them.

i contacted ind directly for a custom paint, and they didn’t have me verify the model so i assume there has to be SOME leeway

I am debating on painting the rear reflectors of my 2019 M240i. Do the rear tail lamps have anything reflective in them? Do the European cars have rear reflectors and no front reflectors?

Rear lights don't reflect
European models have reflectors on the back.
You can see by configuring on the German site.

From some of the horror stories about how hard it was to get the OEM ones out, I was not looking forward to installing these... Did them today and it took around 15 minutes. Yeah, those clips are a pain in the ass but I just pushed on them and pulled the old one out... didn't break anything. It wasn't near as difficult as I thought it would be. They look awesome too.

Does using these cause any issues with inspections?

Owners here in Virginia have been known to fail the annual safety inspection with the painted reflectors. I added a smoked window tint to the front & back ones so they still work as reflectors.
