Have you considered an OE MPPK lower intake with a drop in filter? No CEL, higher flow, better sound than stock. And a lot cheaper than other options.
Lower as in... lower in the engine bay?
No, the upper part of the air box and intake tube are the same as stock. Its the lower intake box (that hooks up to the air channel) that is different. You can purchase just the lower air box.

According to BMWs material, the additional opening in the lower air box is supposed to help with increased air flow, back pressure, and better sound. I run it myself.
Do you have a link for this? Was it a tough Install? And the same OEM Filter etc still used ?

Just search #11122334344 and it will come up from a few sources.

It's the same size as stock, so same filter size is used and it takes maybe 10min to install. I highly recommend getting an upgraded drop in filter like aFe, Active Autowerke, or K&N with it. Those will all increase sound and throttle response over the stock paper filter.

Awesome and if I switch the drop in filter still no check engine light? How is the sound difference from stock is it super noticeable? 1-10?

You could just throw one of those aem dryflow filters on any intake you want and see how that goes.

Not very noticeable if sound is what you're after. Maybe a 3/10 increase in sound. You'll need an open filter to really open up the intake sound.

MPPK airbox lower section is also fitted as std to M2.

Different part no as MPPK has an extra bright red/orange intake opening whereas M2's part is just black...

I just got the injen intake today, it comes with a "nano-fiber dry filter." Should be fine, I'll post otherwise if something comes up.

Magnum pro dry s will give you 0 issues. Sounds close to a blow off valve and reliable. Have been running 10k miles on my 2014 m235i now.

TBH either get Dinan, Eventuri if you've got money to burn, or stay stock and upgrade the filter (AFE is a good choice). Virtually everything else is noise better / performance worse IMO.

We've seen almost every intake available throw a CEL here or there but it's still fairly rare considering how many are fine. You only hear problems on forums, you seldom hear people saying there car is running great and CEL free - IE boring posts

Based on our sales, the most popular intakes are the BMS and Injen still. CTS is up there too.

This is normal. Only open filter as far as I know that doesn't throw codes is CTS ...

Try cleaning the MAF sensors, I don't think the CEL will affect drive ability though.

What you can do (in my opinion) is remove the intake and sell it for whatever you can get for it. It really isn't worth the hassle you're going to have to deal with for next to no substantial benefit to get it to not throw CELs.

Oh it does, it randomly stumbles while driving, jerks the whole car. It took almost 2 weeks to throw a code so I cleared it today to see if it comes right back. Should get me by until I hop on the bm3 train Wednesday.

Why pay $300 usd to ecstuning when you can pay $2.50 for pvc pipe and maybe $10 for drill bit

Cts Turbo Intake

I am considering the CTS TURBO intake myself for my 2015 m235i. I have heard good feedback on it.
Most ppl say no CEL and wonderful sounds. It's some what pricey imo.
