This may be a dumb question but, if running catless DP, will it ruin the "post cat" o2 sensor quicker than normal?

Great information greg21040 So the little straight adapter and no CEL? Great stuff!

I can't imagine it ruining the O2 sensor. The purpose of the spacer it to allow the same amount of catalyst to the O2 as having a cat. I've had mine on for about two years and 18,000 miles and no issue at all.

Hi greg21040

Can you repost the link to your spacer?

The previous link doesn't work anymore

There are several lengths, but here is what mine look like. Only need one post cat. Almost any auto store has them for under $10. You can also search "O2 spacer" and get the best price.
Here's a link of what the are...

Thanks! There are a couple of options (straight, extended, and angled) so I just bought a few of them and I'll let my exhaust mechanic decide. Cheers to amazon's return policy

I first tried the long 90 angle one first and got a code it was too lean. I bet that one would work on a catless DP...mine is the 200 cell one.
Amazon is the best! lol

Finally installed the catless DP with the 90-degree spacer...

- no CEL as of now

- definitely smells but not too bad when you roll up the windows (smells like a go-kart)

- definitely louder especially start-up (too loud in my opinion) and in sports mode. you'll get more burble and you can force out pops/bangs when you downshift

- I feel like there is less low-end torque/power now although I have a JB+ installed and both my res are deleted

Will keep you guys updated on the CEL...

Since my last post, my CEL came on and off for a week, and then miraculously, it stayed off until today. Luckily, I had my car serviced a few days before the engine light came on.

Now the engine light is on but whatever, my lease is coming up in 8-months.

Sometimes the smell is unbearable especially when I park my car in the garage. - I have to run inside the house trying not to breathe.

As for the sound, it will certainly wake up your neighbours during cold-start.

My friends describe the exhaust sound as 3 lawn mowers starting up at the same time lol. In other words, it sounds annoying to them.

My setup: both res deleted, vrsf catless dp with spacer, unplugged the exhaust flap module (i wish i can plug it back in but apparently, you have to open it up)

I hear you. I have an M3 E46. Catless with race exhaust. Sounds sweet (to me), but pisses off anyone within earshot.

Now that I have had my M240 for a few weeks and killed a few Km's, its time to start a few mods.

Hi Geo, I know this is old but I need some help if you're around still. I installed my downpipe and get a rattling noise - I'm not sure if its vibrating against the shielding and was wondering if I could send a few pics so you can let me know if my orientation of it is incorrect. Thanks

New issue

So, I'm stumped slightly. I left my catless dp on over the winter when I stored it. First start of the season it ran real rough (bucking, sputtering, surging). So I put the stock cat back on because I wanted to order a gasket for it anyways. I ran the can for a few weeks with the stock cat on with no issues. Put the vrsf cat on with the nestle gasket and v-clamp, started it up and same thing. I ran it to get fresh gas in it (first fill up of the season) and on my way back home the CEL light came on and the car felt like it was in limp mode. Ran code on my UScan code reader as well as the jb4 and got P0170/18001 - mixture control: mixture too lean. I checked the O2 sensors, intake and MAF plug. All were taught. Any other ideas or do I need to put everything back to stock again and see if it fixes itself?

Well..... I put the stock cat on, reset the code, drove for 100 miles and the light hasn't returned yet. Not sure if there was a leak somewhere within the CL DP or not :

Any way you can send or post a video of cold start? Currently have a midpipe on my car and I was wondering what cold starts would sound like with a catless downpipe installed.
