FederalEvoluzion ST-1 255/35/18 on the rear of an M235

This winter I installed 17" winter rims and tires. My low tire pressure warning came on. I ignored it for the winter thinking when I put my new aftermarket Summer Set, which have matching diameters to stock, the light would go off....yes I tried to reset but the option was greyed out and the iDrive system would not let me reset.

My car has been at the dealership for two days now, they have reprogramed or reinstalled the software in hopes that would let them reset. No luck, finally they asked me to bring my OEM wheels and tires to see if that will make the light go away. I just dropped them off at the end of the day so hopefully they will tell me if that was the problem or not...but I have a feeling that's not the end to my problem.

Stock Set:
18x7.5 225/40/18 all four tires

Aftermarket:
Front are stock Pirelli tires
Rear are Federal 255/35/18

Anybody have the same low tire light issue?

The dealership just called me...

And the dealership's answer, your rear tires are an inch bigger than stock. That's why light will not reset. Has any one else have issues using Federal Evoluzion ST-1 255/35/18 on the rear of an M235i?

I used to run 245/40/18 Federal 595RS-RR on stock wheels and had no issues with that setup

Assuming TPMS is working as intended. It may be an issue with your sidewall. You could try running a 40 sidewall.
I've always ran 35 side wall on my 19s. Currently running 245/35/19 front and 255/35/19 rear. Never an issue

If rear total diameter is smaller than the front the car might get angry because the rears are rotating faster than the fronts. My 2 cents

Well as an update to the story, I brought my rims to them and they thought I brought the wrong set. They assumed I had a staggered set up and rear stock is 245 40 18. When I brought them my 225 40 18 they finally agreed to reset the DSC.
It didn't work immediately but the light finally shut off $380 later.

The Federals are Great. The are very sticky for a street tire with predictable manners when they do break loose. I don't think they will last as long as they say, but time will tell.
