Tire creaking noise

Appreciate any help people could provide in identifying this noise coming from my back right wheel. Only started noticing it over the last few days, but that could simply be because I've had the windows open more with the warmer weather.

The noise itself sounds like the tire rubber is creaking with each full rotation. I can hear it from inside the cabin with the windows up. Happens whenever the vehicle is in motion (i.e. not related to any turning movement, etc.) and frequency increases with wheel speed.

Vehicle is a stock 2016 M235i with a winter wheel setup (Continental Winter Contact TS830P SSR 205/50 R17 89H on BMW 17" rims). Back tires are only about a year old.

I've inspected the tire itself best I can. No obvious wear patterns or tread/sidewall damage. I'm obviously not an expert, but does not sound like a bad wheel bearing or rubbing brake dust shield (previous wheel noise issues I've experienced on other vehicles).

I've uploaded a video of the noise just from going back and forth in my driveway. You can hopefully make out the noise, but iPhone mic is a little overwhelmed by exhaust noise.

Thanks for any thoughts or help!

If u switched rear tires from side to side to hear if noise follows and even drive with that change to notice if it subsides through use in reverse.

No rotation yet. The rear tires were new this year, so they've been on the same wheels since the fall. Noise does still seem to be present in reverse, though maybe a little harder to hear.

I heard it in reverse. Thinking a change in rotation might alter a wear pattern causing the noise. BTW what model tire is that ?

I recently put my summers back on (Continental Contiprocontact ssr on oem 436m wheels) and heard a similar noise on both front wheels. inspected everything and it all seems fine. I can't hear it with the windows closed, only when outside the vehicle and it passes by (wife was driving). keeping an eye on it. interested in whatever you find out!

Finally switched out the winter tires yesterday for my all seasons and the noise went away, so definitely tire related. Had a good look at the culprit tire, but no visible damage or uneven wear. Only thing I forgot about was late last year had to have a slow leak from a screw plugged.

The shop at the time said there shouldn't be any damage to the tire and they only needed a small plug to patch it. Don't think a plug should cause that noise.

Plug would basically be at the top of the wheel when the noise is heard.

I don't think it's your plug.

I recently heard the same noise on my wife's f30. I'm not worried about it, just a little weird and kinda not cool when driving past folks, haha.
