Rear Brakes on M235i

Hi all,

I had the front brakes (rotors & pads) replaced as part of warranty just a week before the warranty expired. My rears are due to be replaced soon - any suggestions on higher quality (braking efforts, low dust, better heat dissipation etc) rotors and pads that I should change to or should I stick with OEM since the fronts are OEM? If I change to a non-OEM rear brake setup, will it cause problems with brake balance?

Thank you to all in advance!

How do you use the car?

Unless you are tracking the car, I would not advise mixing pad compounds, let alone adding a more capable pad on the rear. I would just stick with stock pads and either get new stock rear pads when you need them or swap everything to a new set once the rears are done.

Normal driving and 3 to 4 track events a year is what I do. Thanks for all the feedback!

Don't mix pads between axles. Stock pads (and fluid) really won't do for any real track time, so you may want to swap to a street/track pad for the summer with a fluid change, then swap back to factory pads and another fluid swap (back to factory low-visc) for winter. This is what I did last summer, and doing the same this year but with better pads and brakes.

If you still OEM fronts you should stick with OEM type rears or any street performance pads from Stoptech, Porterfield and such.

If you track the car but don't want to swap pads at each event, the Ferodo DS2500 is your best choice. This is a very popular pad for the M2/3/4 owners. You should replace all four corners if going this route.
