Tire/wheel fitment with LCA/TS on lowered M235i
Hi, fellow members. I have a 2015 F22 M235i, with M4 LCA + TS conversion done and Hotchick sway bar installed late last year. I also had the front fender rolled, and here are my conditions:
last year with H&R lowering springs: (max camber & caster) 225/35/R19 (25.2" OD) on Arc-7 19x8.5 ET35 (rubbed crazily no even drivable if I have a 100lb passenger) 235/40/R18 (25,4"OD )RE71R on Niche Targa 18x8 ET40 (still rubbed) This year with Vogtland lowering springs ~1/4" higher: (max camber and caster) 225/35/R19 (25.2" OD) on Arc-7 19x8.5 ET35 (rubbed slightly at hwy bumps, it's fine) 225/40/R18 RE71R (25.1"OD) on FC04 18x8 ET40 (no rubbing at all) I like my 19" Arc-7 as my daily use, so i will have the back of the wheels shaved 4mm and it wont rub anymore. but for track use, 225/40/R18 wont rub but it doesn't provide enough grip up front and it's unsteering. my new RE71R only lasted me 1.5 track days with less than 1200km on the street. the 235/40/R18 RE71R lasted me ~3500km street + 3.5 track days. I wont be running RE71R anymore, they're too soft. good grip and good for autocross but doesn't fit my aggressive driving on track days. I am now in search for new tires, likely go for either RS4 or NT01. is anyone here with similar setup running 235 or 245 up front? if so can you share your set up please. or if you are running 17", what kinda wheels/tires do you use? 235/40/R18 RE71R, after 3.5 track days, outer camber wear before LCA+TS 225/40/R18 RE71R, after 1.5 track days, camber wear moved in more after LCA +TS and swaybar. 19" Arc-7 with 225 tires, not very minor rub. |

ARC-8 - 18X9½ ET58 R & 17X9 ET42 F R888R - 255/35-18 R & 255/40-17 F (this Toyo tire is roughly equivalent to an NT01) Spacers: 5mm R Camber: -1.9° F & -1.6° R (achieved with TCKline Camber Plates) Toe IN: 1/32" F & 1/8" R Lowered (est.): 1¼" F & 1" R Fender Roll: F & R (each roll must have been slight, because I can't tell they were done) The alignment is for street and track; estimated tire life on the street is 8,000 miles. The above wheels and tires are track only. I run the OEM wheels & tires on the street. I had all this work done at TC Kline's shop in Hilliard, Ohio. I basically asked him to make the car usable on the track while keeping it streetable. The choices he made worked well at Mid-Ohio, a fairly challenging handling track. I chose the tire compound - I wanted NT01s (a tire I've had a lot of experience with), but fitment was an issue. I used DSC OFF Mode at Mid-Ohio, and I'll use that mode again next month at Watkins Glen. The car is fine on the street, making more noise than OEM but not enough to bother me. I drive in Comfort Mode on the street. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your share. 18x9.5 ET58, I am not sure if that would fit because the M4 LCA and TS moved the wheel about 1/4" forward, but i do wanna run 255 if possible

The wheel in front is the ARC-8 17X9 ET42. I badly wanted a square setup, but fitment up front was an issue.

I see, so you run 17” up front and 18” in the rear.
I just put on a set of 235/45/18 up front, so far no rubbing. With -2.1 camber and 8.1 caster up front. But i rolled the fender a lot. 255 up front is very ideal, I’ll look into some 17x9 and try it out. Thank |

Truly recommend et42 front and et52 rear? I was going to get customs at et40/et50 but your post is changing my mind. |

I have F8x LCA/TS's & Hotchkis sway bars (Front set stiff) with 255 RE71, on 9" wheel et42. With about -2.5*F there's no rubbing whatsoever, set as low as I'd like to run on street. Also running a 5mm spacer to clear the lower spring perch.
Next thing I'm going to do is get a custom front spring made which will be short enough to allow me to drop the spacer out of the equation completely. That would then allow me to run a healthy DD setting of -2.0 - -2.2

The shop I chose (TCKline Racing - http://www.tcklineracing.com/index.cfm?Action=HomePage) has specialized for 30 years in building suspension kits for BMWs. The shop buys each BMW for which it develops a suspension, and it then tests the suspensions on the street and the track. I had sufficient confidence in them to drop my car off after discussing my street and track needs, knowing I'd get back a car that had a very good balance in both areas. Like you, I thought about having a custom set of wheels made - that was so I could achieve a square setup. The shop recommended Forgestars. The wheels were going to be 17X9s (or, maybe, 17X9½s - can't remember exactly right now, or what the offsets were going to be), but in the end I didn't want to pay $3,200 for a set of custom forged wheels. The price itself was fine, but I'm not putting big money into my cars anymore (I ended up at $14K for the basic build I have). The ARC-8s, while not square, cost me $1,150 delivered and still allowed me to run 255s on all four corners. With all of that as background, if I were in your situation I'd look for a qualified race shop that also works on street cars to help me achieve my goals. I realize you may not require that sort of expertise.
