Hoping to hear what caused the code! I don't think it should have been the fabspeed highflow DP. let us all know what you find out when you can as I am going to be installing my new Catted dp next week from Fabspeed but was assured no customers besides 1 due to severe track use has failed. Ill be doing a writeup and review as well but really hoping your CEL is not from the DP

I have the Dinan Stage 2 and CAI with the fabspeed sport cat dp and no CEL. I'm interested to see what's causing that CEL.

Thank you guys for the reply !
Gasspasser :
Well we have the same package except for the GFB DV+ so I will guess it's the cause of the cel !! I just ordered the Autel AL519 scan tool on Amazon.ca so I will let you know when I have it !

Sounds bad but I think we are all hoping the CEL to be the diverter valve ?!?! I don't think any of us with the Fab Speed Catted DP wanna hear CEL after dropping the money on that damn lovely DP they offer lol.. Thanks to everyone chiming in and providing info!

Just so you soon know, I have a CEL with my fabspeed dp as well. However, I don't think it is from the pipe. If the cat had failed, the car would throw a P0420 code - I had that code six months ago when I melted my OEM cat.

The code its throwing now is a PO13F code, which is a delayed response from the downstream O2 sensor. Most likely it got damaged between burning out my OEM dp, installing a new OEM dp, then installing the fabspeed dp. I'm going to have my mechanic check it next time I'm in.

No, not yet. I'm probably going to send the car into the shop in a month for oil change, brakes, etc. I'll have him look at the 02 sensor then as well.

Hm. Not sure. I'll have to check with fabspeed. Problem might be with the aftermarket cat.

I didn't even have 100 miles on my car under normal commute that I got the CEL.... and now two of us are having this issue... My car is completely stock besides your catted sport DP... Im just very frustrated at the fact that I think I am the first with having almost Immediate CEL issues with the o2 sensor code... Either the sport cat pissed off my secondary o2 sensor obviously or my mechanic damaged my o2 sensor during removal and install and I witnessed the install so definitely want to rule that one out.... Idk what the resolution will be if the sport cat is causing us to get secondary o2 sensor issues... when I spoke to fabspeed initially about my concerns before ordering the DP I was told that it would be issue free especially under my weekend cruiser driving conditions... My car has 2,000 miles and is stock as mentioned so having a burned out secondary 02 seems odd as well... I am really thinking its simply the car not liking the new exhaust mixtures and therefore obviously the secondary sensor doing its job and throwing the CEL.... Hoping to get some insight or help in regards to what to do next to get this DAMN light off and gone
anyone contact you re. the check engine light? was about to order but then ran into your post... now having second thoughts.

No info yet at all... All I did so far was clear the code via my P3 vent gauge WHICH ACTUALLY WORKED. waiting on Fabspeed or Liquidpaper to see if his sensor was damaged and what he can find out about our P031F code. IM more so shocked that I encountered a CEL within only literally 50-60 miles of driving after install. I am not sure when I can get my car on the lift and see if the sensor is damaged or if anything is not right but I watched the install and it was SPOT ON.. Kinda hoping my sensor just decided to go out and or act up otherwise Im debating on what path to take next but also have to kinda wait and see what Fabspeed Motorsport recommends on doing next.

Man. I kinda hope it's the sensor also, otherwise might consider the HJS catted downpipe... But that's a 1400 unit!

Anyone know how much or where I can find replacement o2 sensor for cheap? might need one for a test mule so to speak to see if a new one throws the same code, if so then definitely think its due to a defect in the catalyst inside the downpipe but not completely sure.... Gonna be a waiting game and some R&D my guessing .....

It's odd that the Fabspeed guys were responsive when they were getting rave reviews and now are rather silent once the CEL has surfaced.

It's been a little over a month so far and no CEL. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I agree, thought they would be all over this and resolve issue promptly to keep reputation going for CEL free performance.

Response from Fabspeed!

We are seeing a small percentage of cars having the issue you are having with the slow o2 response. To be honest it hit us out of nowhere as none of our long term test mule cars had any issues. We just redesigned the downpipe for the 335i and your 235i. So far have only had the new design on test mule 335i’s because that’s all we could get our hands on. It has 100% corrected the issue you have on the 335’s and It should do the same on the M235i. Today in 20 mins I have a new test M235i coming in to have the new design installed. As long as it check out we are going to phase out and replace any dp’s that have caused issue. I will see what I can do about getting the part installed for you at one of our distributors near you as soon as it’s ready. Please hang tight in the meantime, the cat you have won’t cause any damage to your car other than the annoying CEL. I apologize again, we will be reaching out to all our customers shortly with a polished version of this same response, also a forum post. We wanted to let everyone know that we are a stand up company and stand behind our superior quality product.

I HAVE GOT TO GIVE IT TO THEM FOR BEING %100 TOP NOTCH! PERFECT RESPONSE AND SOLUTION! OVERALL THE DP IS AMAZING I GUESS A VERY SMALL % OF US RAN INTO THE UNFORESEEN BUG BUT THANKYOU FABSPEED FOR THAT PROFESSIONAL RESPONSE I AM VERY HAPPY WITH YOUR COMPANY AND PRODUCT REGARDLESS OF THIS ISSUE A FEW OF US ARE DEALING WITH!

This is good news. Love the pipe -- just don't like the CEL.
