F23 m240i Cabrio Softtop Tension Cable Frayed

Just noticed the tension cable for my f23 m240i cabrio top needs to be replaced. This is my first cabrio car. I've only had my car for 1 year (new)

Anyone else experience this issue? I realize I'm still under warranty, but would be a shame if I have to constantly lookout for this part wearing out.

There was something (this maybe) that was a recall / warranty repair. I had something done to my top but it was a while ago and I honestly cannot remember what.

Yah. I had a recall on my 2016 M235xi ragtop for some soft-top cable adjustments in early 2017. Other owners experienced some fabric damage.(see thread below)
I doubt if the issue OP has is the same. My 2018 ragtop, so far, is tickety-boo.

Interesting...

My car is MY18 LCI m240i feb/18 production date. ConnectedDrive says my VIN has no recalls.

I've only taken my car in for a single oil change as regular maintenance.

I have to believe that whatever issue our 2016 MY ragtops had would have long since been resolved in production.
It'll be interesting to see if your problem is unique to your vehicle or if there's a design or production related issue with the 2018 MY ragtops.
Please give us an update when you get it figured out.

No that I think about it I believe it was indeed some sort of tensioner. I never looked into it much since warranty so I didn't care as long as fixed.

The recall was the tension cable. They advised not to use the top because it could snap. Luckily for me it was winter.

Update

*FINALLY* got my car back. Took just under two weeks at the dealer cuz the shop kept ordering the wrong parts

In the end, they replaced the tension cable and interior soft top liner which had a small hole, and also a new DME under a recall bulletin. Everything was covered under warranty.
