Catted Downpipes for B58

Looking to add a catted downpipe to my M240i with M Performance Exhaust. The available alternatives appear to be:
1. CG Precision DS-1 with 200 CPSI cat

2. Wagner Tuning B58 downpipe with 200 CPSI cat

3. Wagner Downpipe with 300 CPSI cat
Not looking to add sound volume; doesn't need to be louder. Louder at WOT is fine however.

Would like to add a little HP and torque.

Would like to have compatibility for future tunes.

Want to pass emission tests in WA.

Does anyone have one of the Wagner downpipes? Opinions on these alternatives?

Thanks very much.

VRSF is also available as catted. AFE has a catted downpipe as well. Ordered a VRSF catted downpipe and a BMS intake a week and a half ago from x-ph. Received the intake a week ago but am still waiting on the downpipe so can't comment on it yet.

Have the Ds-1. Little pricey, but it’s the only one that guarantees no CEL without a tune or piggy back. All others say they have ran for thousands of miles without CEL, but they can’t guarantee it won’t pop up eventually. Doesn’t make the exhaust much louder at all, but it does scream at WOT. Better throttle response as well and works great with JB4 on map 5 (with 93+ and a CAI).

Great point on the on CEL. We only have 92 octane here in WA, often with ethanol. In British Columbia, next door to the north, you can get 94 octane with no ethanol.

Which CAI do you have and which do you recommend? Your thoughts on this CAI:

Thanks again.

I have the BMS intake. Simple, cheap, gets the job done. Are there better performing intakes out there? Certainly, but marginally. I feel beyond the BMS in design is diminished returns. To me, a CAI is simply for the turbo whistle haha.

The DP works on 92 octane and even 91 octane. I was just saying it works with map 5 of JB4 as well and future flash tunes. High flowing so provides a performance increase. Here in Florida, and really anywhere in the US, gas contains up to 15% ethanol in normal distribution. Ethanol free, or even high ethanol content (e85) are special distributions and not available everywhere.

VRSF catted in since oct, no CEL.
Funny note, the guy that installed the pipe on mine (a shop that does state emissions testing) said these cars run so clean that if you sniffed it without any cats/mufflers it would pass.

Depending on the state though, like Illinois, they connect a pipe to the exhaust and run it. Even if it didn’t detect anything, the CEL would warrant a failed test and would need to be fixed.

I also went Charles’s initially and my wife hated the smell so I went to the sport cat. You definitely will smell the lack of a catalyst

In PA a SNIFFer is used if there appears to be anything questionable going on, to which he claimed pretty much all new cars could pass without CATS/MUFflers. Mine throws no CELs at all, so all good here

Thanks, I was not aware that VRSF had a sport cat for the M240i. It's significantly less expensive than the CG Precision.

How much louder is your VSRF sport cat? Is the sound about the same at < WOT?

Thanks again.

Thanks! Under normal driving (not cold start or WOT), is the loudness close to stock? Does it drone or otherwise intrude into the cabin?

On the chick front, I am an old married guy. So my chick probably prefers not too loud though she is seldom with me when the car is WOT.

Normal driving is louder than stock, but not obnoxious at all, ......... they don't have to be your chicks to dig it!

We carry all these options, If you are worried about sound get Wagner HJS 300 CEL

It will offer better air flow, no code and no sound increase

Mike, on the graphs, it looks like the 300 has less flow than the 200. Correct?
