Coding Convertible Top

My 2019 2 series IX convertible is awesome but there are some things that need correction. Case in point, the convertible top control gets 'pushed forward' to open the top and 'pulled back' to close it. It's exactly opposite of how it should go. Does anyone know if Bimmercode has a setting to change this? I know it's small and unimportant but it doesn't make any sense the way it is.

Thanks in advance.

It's emulating a window (Push to open, pull to close). Curiously, it's only done this way for the Convertible tops in the US.

Yes, it drives me crazy as well. I've asked the Bimmercode people last year and they didn't know of a solution then. Haven't ventured into the switch (S55b), but it might be as easy as swapping the wires.

There's an aftermarket convertible box that you plug into the harness behind the door card. Forget who makes it. It allows you to switch the direction of the toggle along with a number of other options.

The box is made my mods 4 cars. It goes in line with the top control module that is in the rear seat area. You get one touch open / close, changing the control operation, one touch up for all windows, open / close top with key fob, etc. Module isn't cheap but after having it I couldn't do without.

Funny, I look at it as pushing down to put the top down, and pulling up to put it up.

What we all should be looking into is coding the comfort access to work more than 5 ft away.

It's pointless to walk up to the car press the fob and stand outside for 25-30 seconds and wait for the top to go down.

The distance should have been the same as the lock/unlock.

That way by the time you get to your car its done.

In BMW's defence, the hydraulics and mechanism for the convertible roof are quite powerful. The problem with any one-touch system is if anyone is distracted and puts their hands/arms in the mechanism as it folds. To obviate injury, the system would need additional sensors etc. to abort the movement, and given the roof can be deployed up to 30mph there may be problems in making that work effectively. All in all, I can see why BMW makes the raise/lower button a 'dead man's handle'.

But I agree about the distance thing - as long as you can see the car, I don't see what the problem is in activating the roof from further away.

Also a tip - if you part-lower the roof to clean the tonneau channel and/or the roof storage cavity, be aware that after about 45-60 seconds, it'll depressurise under the weight of the mechanism, and move of its own accord.

The problem I have after coding my mirrors to fold upon lock is that with zero delay it will also pop the tonneau latches to start putting up the top if I touch for just a second too long. I wish there was a a way to have to touch door handle longer before the top goes up but have the mirror fold instantly. Anyone?

I have my mirrors coded to 1.5 second delay and never had an issue fob or door activating the tonneau. I'm using bimmercode.
As soon as the mirror starts to close let go. Hope that helps.

My mirrors work with fob but not with door, used bimmercode as well. Who knows.

You do know there are two sets of coding for mirror fold, right? One for fold/unfold via key fob and another for fold/unfold via door handle.

Really? Hmmmm. Definitely worth checking out thanks!

I did this years ago maybe bimmercode didnt have the option then. Although my wagon I did the same thing and it all works.
