How many here are previous e92 owners and how was the transfer?

hi guys!

Im still a huge e92 fanboy but the m235 is growing on me and it certainly is becoming the better option in Sweden price wise.

I live up north so I've only seen one m240 live in red,

how are the lines of the car and how much better is the drive compared to the 2 e92s I've owned ?

I'm afraid I can't help you with your question, but I thought it was against the law to sell red cars in Sweden? Sorry, just kidding!

I picked up an Electric Silver Volvo V70R at the factory in Göteborg back in 2006. The young lady assisting me with the paperwork told me that the Swedish people working in the Volvo Overseas Delivery department couldn't understand why so many of the foreigners coming to pick up their cars had chosen a red car. I tried to explain (because some people like that color!), but I don't think she understood.

Later I learned that flashy colors, whether in cars or in clothing, are not generally accepted style in Sweden. No doubt there are exceptions - e.g., a lady wearing a red dress to a Christmas party.

I came from an E92 335i so I can give you my perspective. As far as lines of the car, I don't think many cars come close to the E92; it's a classic that will not date. Till this day, every time I see a clean one I kind of regret selling mine. The F22 is more blocky and not sleek at all, I'd say it's more aggressive looking because of the front end and short butt. It is a bit tall too compared to many cars, not just the E92. What I've noticed with the F22 is road noise and overall fit and finish of the interior is not as tightly put together as my E92 was. Interior materials seems to be a little cheaper feeling than the E92 also. One thing that is very noticeable between the two cars is that the F22 is much more nimble and balanced. It's definitely a much more fun car to drive for sure. There are days I'm glad I switched but there are also the days that I really miss the E92. If I had an E90 I wouldn't feel this way but the E92 is such a beautiful car in my opinion.

E92, bah! E46 is the beast for me, the best looking BMW in the last 40 years. That said, of all the new models, I do find the F22 appealing and it handles waaay better than any E92 I know of, well except maybe for the steering, but that ain't coming back.

E46, E92, F22, all beautiful cars that age well!

While the E92 is very sleek, the sides are plain. I just love the curves on the sides of the F22. Yes it looks taller, but only compared to the very long E92.

The e92 is a beauty ! However, I love the new tech, seats and over all feel of the m235 better. As above poster stated, it feels more nimble and balanced. Quicker turn in I think...
It is a worthy successor!

The car's lines look best from the side and when it's facing away from you. It also photographs much better from these angles. I don't like the lines as much when the car's facing you - here are a few examples in Melbourne Red.

Whenever I look at the F22 it always reminds me of an E46 coupe, I think honestly that the F22 is the modern interpretation of the E46. Just looking at this image, the side profiles are so very close to each other in design.

Can't comment on driving the e92, but boy do they still get my attention when I see a clean LCI model on the streets! I especially like how the hardtop 'vert looks for some reason.

Not sure how true it actually is, but a very experienced European car mechanic who bought one for modding told me he "loves them, but literally everything will break... I mean everything." He then proceeded to show me how even the window switches inside the car were broken. LOL

I had an E90 335i, I know it's not the same but... I like the E92 body, I love the F22 body. Hands down the F22 is better looking car to me. In fact, I think the E46 coupe is a better looking car than the E92. I'm bummed that I never got to own a E46.

Your mechanic is definitely right. Back in 2012 I was bringing my 330i to my mechanic a lot and he had to test drive it for one time when he fixed a part to see if the fix was effective, and then the next week I go to my mechanic I find out that he's bought a 2008 335i, he admits thats its an unreliable car, but he loved it, which is weird cause mechanics usually hate working on their own cars, but since then he's cherished that 335 likes its his child.

Yeah, as mentioned, the F22 is much more fun to drive while the E92 is more luxurious feeling with the longer wheelbase and tight steering. The biggest issue I have with my F22 is all the squeaks, rattles, and clunks since purchasing the vehicle new. This is the first of three BMW's that I've had with these types of issues, which leads me to think either they cheaped out on the materials and/or workmanship. Don't get me wrong, I really like my F22 but it does seem like they took some shortcuts along the way, and not to mention the electric power steering sucks.

Funny thing is my 335i LCI had zero problems in 6 years of ownership except for the known Bosch coil pack issue (Bosch made bum coils) that went out on me like 3 months after warranty expried. I replaced it with a Delphi and that was literally the only thing that went bad on me in 6 years and 56k of driving.

I hear ya! truly loved the feeling in the steering wheel on my e92s, I would feel in awe of it and wonder how they did it=) Yeah f22 looks epic all the way and truly a drivers car but my budget is pretty low so I won't beat on it anyways=)

Thats not too much milage though or really a long amount of time, BMWs can be relatively reliable for some time, but once all the rubber and plastic starts to break or wear out things do add up usually anywhere over 100k miles, some more stuff tends to happen. Not all bmws are like this, there are lucky ones out there, but I'm not gonna say that BMWs are like toyotas in reliability. The E90 is relatively good, its just some of the smaller things, or electronics like the Electric Water Pump or Valve Cover Gasket that seem to be the biggest issue, and 35i's usually tend to have expensive turbo replacements. There are some stupid designs to BMWs though, not every one is perfect, i remember the E46s were notorious for cooling issues, mine itself blew a head-gasket but that was after 200k miles thankfully and not earlier like some horror stories i've heard.

My point is I purchased my E92 (owned for 6 years 56k) new and my current F22 new (5 years 46k) and this car has been in the shop for MANY issues. If you look back on my posts, you'll see the issues I've dealt with from when the car hit about 3.5 years and 30k on the odo. Squeaks, creaks, clunks, iDrive screen totally blacking out and them replacing the screen, then head unit, and it still was blanking out and rebooting. Oh, and the squeaky seat I had to take in three times and they eventually replaced the seat back frame. So many bugs compared to my E92 and I purchased both new with under 70 miles on them. The only issue I had with the E92 was the well known and documented Bosch coil pack failures. I replaced one coil in 6 years of ownership and that was literally the only thing I ever did to that car besides routine maintenance.

man thats some nice owning experiences buying such nice cars and living with them for some time. I truly envy you! Ive bought mine when the timing has been wrong and my Health has been poor. I remember when the e92 arrived, it was true Buzz around it and espevially in the tuning game, I loved it right away and instantly said its my dreamcar, I lived in Hawaii at the time and I remember seeing them live brand new! just wow!

Came from an e92 325i, for me personally, hydraulic steering, heftiness and perhaps interior quality (both were a little dated for its time) of the e92 was reassuring but in every other area the f22 wins. The e92 was more a cruiser, the f22 a go kart.

Not exactly the F22 but owned one E46, then 2 x E92 one a pre LCI and then the Sport high line.
One manual and one the DCT.
Now an M2 DCT all great cars...but the M2 wins
