So, I had a GPS system that would tell me what side of the street my destination was on. It's a tad annoying that the BMW nav doesn't do this.

So it got me thinking, do counties, states, or the whole nation have a regulation on street number assignments?

Say for example, if I am traveling on a road that goes North/South, I can expect even #'s to be on the north side direction, and odd #'s on the south side direction.

OR, maybe its arbitrary and a city planner throws a dart and decides what #'s go where.
