The dust cap has to come off in order for a 10mm or 12mm spacers to fi ton the rear. Even the 15mm squeezes the dust cap, at least it did with the Ubercentric ones, H&R may have a different fit.
I don't mind removing the dust caps, really don't see the point of them honestly. I'm sure others will chime in and say if BMW engineers say they are needed, then they are needed and BMW wouldn't waste money on useless parts and maybe it's true...I just don't see why BMW's need it when no other car does.

Nice, you did it! How are you liking the 12/12 setup?
BTW I tried that silicon stuff though, though mine was epoxy. The first time I went to mess with the spacers, the caps fell off..guess the epoxy didn't quite resist with the heat that those things probably heat up to.

if the spacer is not balanced you will get wheel vibration....as well if you don't clean the hubs and the spacer doesn't sit flush against the hub

On the 12mm spacers, there would be vibration in the steering wheel between 40-50 MPH only and on the 15mm spacers, there would be vibration at 80 MPH only. Could be they weren't exactly in thickness or in balance, who knows.

well i mean the probably build them to be balanced... else it will create vibration when it spins
And some might be better balanced than others |

How about 15/15 - is that a no-go?

First, thanks for all of the testing that has been done with the various sizes of wheel spacers.
Does anyone know how far can you space on the front and the rear before the tire would be at risk of coming up and impacting the fender/quarter panel? I love the look, but the roads around me sometimes aren't the greatest, so I'm curious how far I can space out without causing problems going over larger bumps/potholes. |

If someone interesting, there are new spacers from H&R from end of 2014 where you don't need to take off dust cups.
I have another question. I put 10 mm spacers on standard 461 wheels and got the feeling that handling became very sensitive for trace changing, like car goes to side where the trace not that flat. Is it a normal thing by using spacers and will it be gone without spacers, considering the fact that I rode 205/50 in winter and in summer now is 225/40 on the front and 245/35 on the rear witch is already much wider without spacers? |
