You guys don't drive Hyundai's or Honda's ... Stay classy my friends. |

My thinking...
- In all probability, I am not going to keep this car for more than a year. It's RWD and I want to get XDrive for Canadian Winters. That said I will wait a year, to get someone to pay for the first $13k in depreciation. This experiment allowed me to get the color I want, without buying new rims for a car I will likely sell in a year's time. - I don't love the stock rims in aluminum alloy. This allowed me to see whether or not I would like the stock rims in a dark color. - The plastidip cost me $40. If it looked cheap, or didn't turn out, I just peel it off. No harm, no foul. So without further ado... (I really like the look, personally) Last edited by LeeT73; 07-10-2015 at 11:56 PM.. |

... but as Plasti-dip jobs go; that's a good one. I just shudder at the thought of how it will look in 5K miles.

I'm curious if the people who think a BMW is too high class for PlastiDip have seen this video:
I think PlastiDip is fine if done correctly, just depends on the scenario. |

Hey Des,
People can knock me all they want. I get the last laugh. My rims look terrific, and it cost me $40. Several people have asked me where I got mine powder coated. One of which was a body guy. When I told him, he got up really close for an inspection, and then he started to laugh. 'Fooled Me' he said. The Anthracite Grey looks excellent. I even platidipped my front grill, and saved another $200 (and my knuckles). |

Looks great so you just left the wheels on the car and masked off the breaks rotors etc?? Rims looks so damn good with black contrast on the MG

Yes. It is that easy Shane. Also, you may want to clean the tires (rubber) first with a good tire cleaner. This allows the plastidip to peel off really easy.

... and the first time you (or the Ferrari owner, not that he cares) have a tire changed, you'll almost certainly have to re-do the Plasti-dip job.
Man ... doing this is like running a B-stock Sherwood CD player with Krell separates ...

I was at a cars and coffee the other day and a dude showed up in an e46 M3 dipped in a matte textured grey and the car looked amazing. people were gathered around it amazed at the paint. people were asking him how much he paid for his custom paint job and the dude smiled and said under $1000 it's dipped. In the end a successful mod is something that makes you happy and if others are impressed its even a better feeling. I wrap my car and I'll hear remarks about that too. Haters will hate... just do your thing.
