Trunk release button (dumbest question in the forum)
I have a really dumb question. I have kids from a former wife, formally known as satan's spawn. I have to pick my kids up at all times day or night, and they always need to put luggage in the trunk. That little button to release the trunk is not only hard to reach, it is impossible to find in the dark. Do ANY BMW models have a lit version of that button that I can retrofit?

Doors unlocked they should be able to open the trunk using the button above the license plate no? I almost never use that release button but if you can't see it try opening the driver's door should give you enough light.

If you unlock your doors with the central switch, they will be able to open the trunk using the soft touch button above the license plate frame.

Not the easiest button to reach/see with the door closed. But it doesn't move around too much after the first few times. Also, my keyfob has a release button. Might use that if you have one.

you're right - the button placement is really odd. You could just splice into the wire behind the dash and put any button you want anywhere inside the cabin.
But it should really be next to the headlamp controls. To me it makes as much sense as having the main Idrive wheel to control the radio by your right hand - and yet having the volume knob a far reach to the dash. Usually if you are changing sources or channels the volume will be different and of course the hand you release from the wheel to move the idrive knob is the one that would use the steering wheel volume controls....
