Tried my replacement adapter and newest carly update/app.

Connectivity is definitely more stable now (bluetooth) but still having issues with some ECUs like KOMBI not being stable enough to code.

I forwarded Carly a bunch of logs so we'll see if there's another app update over the next few days or weeks.

If I understand you correctly, you can code some modules with no problems?
But other modules (like ECU) won't play ball?

If that is the case, it is very strange how the connection can be stable enough to code one module, but not another.

Purely out of curiosity, do you always code in the same location? (Garage,Driveway etc?) I wonder if there is something interfering with it?
Maybe try having a go at another location if you haven't already?

Ha! Yes, I had thought about that funny enough so will be changing "locations" and trying again..

That said heard back from Carly last night re logs I'd forwarded and he said he's noticing a peculiar issue specifically around the KOMBI piece and wants me to try a few things.

So bizarre....

Glad they are getting back to you on the issue.
Hopefully the combination of new things to try and a different location may get things moving in the right direction.
Fingers crossed for you.

What are trying to code in KOMBI? Digital Speedo?

Let's hope so! Hadn't decided what I wanted to code....wanted to see the list of codable options but can't read the KOMBI ECU to see the list!

Check the coding cheat sheet in this section...it will give you a list of all modules and features that are codable.

I plugged mine today on my 240 and managed to code a few features, although it does not support the latest iDrive as yet.

The one thing I want to enable is enhanced bluetooth for office functions as it isnt on mine, but i understand it is.

I emailed them about the office function. They did not respond specifically to my question and sent me links to their website. So you are saying you cannot get the office/enhanced bluetooth with carly?

Hiya

Carly does not support the new iDrive on the 240 yet so no you can't code anything there.

The only things it allows are lights, seat belts and some dash mods.

You can however do it via the full coding if you have the Bluetooth option.. I've yet to do it but I've been given the details just have to set it all up and try

They get there in the end, but to be honest the functions they let you code are always very limited.

When I had the 6 coded, there were a huge number of things I could code up that were not included, and their response is they only add what people ask for based on the demand.

They are slow but I guess thats because they test it a lot as they have a lot riding on it going wrong, whereas if you are let lose with the coding tools yourself, then its down to you breaking it yourself..

I used Carly to code a friend's F25 X3 yesterday, and there were only a handful of useful features that I could code. Strangely, it can code "unlock doors at engine shutdown", but not "shut off electronics at driver door opening". I was able to do the digital speedo readout and remove the analog speedo correction and a couple of other things, but not near what can be done with E-Sys. That said, Carly's interface is a whole lot easier to use. I purchased the "iDrive Codings" option and it has a fair amount of features to code, but most of them have to do with "Video in Motion" and so forth.

Good info, I was looking at this as an alternative, does anyone have a full list of what they were able to do with their m240i?

I'm actually surprised they give you all the tools to do unlimited coding, most programs like this use credits for coding. Pretty good deal.

You can't disable active sound with Carly. You have to use E-Sys or buy an ASD bypass.

For tilt mirror in reverse, you need to have the mirror adjustment switch set to the driver side. If you have it set to the passenger side, it won't work.

Last edited by dailowill; 03-29-2017 at 09:50 AM.. Reason: Apparently you don't need power folding mirrors foro this feature.

Nice! Let us know the results if you decide to code any of the above.

Will do. I'm hoping I'll have some time Sunday. I was going to try both, but interested in the exhaust valve.
