enet cable - now connecting but some issues ? *** RESOLVED ***

Can anyone tell me if I "MUST" have an ENET cable to code, I have my old usb-obdii cable, which works (currently) with ISTA, I can get codes and that stuff,

I'm looking through the software hints (on here) and trying to install set up esys, but it's not connecting.

So 1st thing 1st must I have the ENET cable

txs

Just for reference, when I go into ISTA, in the settings connection shows/is set for edibas
not sure if that helps.

previous was an E, not an F, I know it says it uses a different cable, but as said my old "E" cable does work for ISTA, (I had to upgrade ista) txs again

If you have an F car, I think you should get an ENET cable, it's to cheap to risk bricking the car by using other cables.

I have a generic one from AliExpress, I used it successfully with ISTA, Esys, BM3 and xHP

Hey update,
I managed to get the enet cable to work
in ista I used the icom/enet lan option
it needed an ip address so I did an ipconfig and then used that.
it connected but weirdly it gave me an error message that the battery "is low 12.44v connect a battery charger to continue"
I just ok'd it, got on and into the codes, but then it froze and wouldnt let me do anything,
restarted, and this time started the car, another message came up something like
"battery was previously at 12.44 now 14.xx, connect a charger or damage may result"
at that point I disconnected and put my trickle charger on

the bmw battery charger has 2 modes, standard and li-ion, the battery has Pb on it, so assuming lead so set it to standard

started to trickle charge, the unit is getting very hot and the charge settings hardly moving, the battery was showing a great charge last week

so not sure

do I need to have my laptop plugged in, does the LAN network connection draw current ?

I'll give it another try tommorow

any thoughts

ok,
some results. with using the yellow enet cable I would get an alarm telling me that the voltage was below the permissible, and then after connecting it would then just freeze.

So tonight, I had the car on charge using my ctek trickle charger, then made sure the voltage got up to higher than 12.55 volts

a different message came up saying, "voltage is in permissible range" blah blah blah" but now, ista works correctly, just go through everything no freezing.

also as opposed to using the ediabas -cable (obd2 to usb) that was thorwong all kinds of fake codes, unable to connect to xyz module.

This time, everything was green ! woo ho

hi guys, i am also having problems connecting my ista with F and G series using ENET cable. Ista recognizes the car and sets up connection, but it wont read the car or get into its modules. Can anyone help? I am willing to pay if someone helps me solve it.
