Trunk foot sensor not working

Hi,

I have bought a second hand 220d Gran Tourer and it seems I cannot open the trunk with the foot. Not sure however if I have that sensor installed. How can I check that?

I assume that is a common feature in all recent 2 series, right?

Did the seller mentioned anything about yours having it?

Its optional afaik, if you wiggle your feet and it doesn't open. Most likely yours don't have it.

Hi,

No, the seller didn't mention anything. I was just not sure if it is optional or not.
There could be a way for me to visually inspect if the sensor is there or not.

Thanks

if you have it, there is a sensor in the back/inside of the rear diffuser in the middle. not sure how common it is for the 2er.

Give it two slow kicks with the same foot at the same spot. This works every time for me.

If you're still not sure and have your VIN handy, you can look it up here (https://decoder.bvzine.com/) to see the factory options your car was built with. You should see hands-free tailgate operation listed if your car has it.

If you have ther feature fitted, have you checked that your valet switch is off? It is typically in the glovebox. When this is on in other BMWs, it stops the tailgate opening.

Just double-checked with a vin decoder, and I have S316 (Automatic Trunk Lid Mechanism) and S322 (Comfort Access), which should enable the foot sensor.

Just tried to touch with my hand in there and managed to reach the sensor (I believe it is the sensor since it has a cable connected to it). Just tried to push it a bit in random directions (although it didn't move at all) and it is now working... Maybe a bad contact.
