DinanTronics Sport - boost setting for 91oct?

I'm picking up a used DinanTronics Sport piggyback in a couple days, and I'm curious what settings other drivers use for it. Given the hot weather and California piss gas, I'm assuming the car's going to struggle with the +4psi setting. My plan is to try +2psi, +3, and then the full +4 on a tank of 91. After that, I'll trying mixing 91 with 2 gallons of E85 and seeing if there's any benefit. I've used this mixture before, but on stock tune, the need for more than 91 octane doesn't seem to avail itself, and I saw no power gains.

Not many will have that around here probably. Why not call dinan? They are out there and will have possibly useful advice...

Update: Race mode seems to work on 91, but the boost it achieves is a little inconsistent based on temperature and other factors. I've started adding 2 gallons of E85 to each full tank of 91 to average up to 93, and I'm not feeling it in the butt dyno, it's a nice bit of peace of mind until I'm back in the land of pump 93.

P.S: I'd confidently recommend this to anyone if you're able to find it on sale or used. I don't have experience with DME tunes [yet], but this is a nice stopgap between stock and Stage 1. It's not radically quicker, but I feel the kick in Race mode.

If you think that's good.. wait till you upgrade to an actual tune.. glad that you're happy with it so far!

this is a sign that it's not working.

The DME lowering timing means that the map is too aggressive for your gas. I recommend using a lower map that's more consistent with 91

I agree, this is why I'm mixing a little E85 into the tank to average up to 93oct. Considering the summer heat, I might bring it up to 94 to see how it reacts. There also seem to be incidents where it takes a second for the boost to kick in, almost like the Dinan is getting confused on which map it should be using. This seems non-octane related, rather just the software having a moment.

For example, I'll floor it in 2nd making a right turn at a green light. 1500-4500 RPM, feels like valet mode. 4500 hits, and it abruptly increases boost to the expected. Clutch in, shift to 3rd, issue is gone. It's hard to predict when it'll happen, but I'm chalking it up as a consequence of adding boost without changing timing. Octane issue would feel slow throughout, or the boost would gradually increase instead of a sudden jump.
