I picked my up from schmiedmann's, approx. $150 AUD delivered... Comes with tweeters but I would recommend you upgrade the front door speakers and the HK tweeters while you're at it (if you're doing this for the sound and not just for cosmetic reasons), there are straight drop in kits like the one from Focal... can get those local in Aus for around $550 delivered.

OP: Any special wiring / splicing required or was it pre-wired? Did you put a full drop in kit in (like the Focals) or just wire into the current kit?

How is the sound now? Much improved?

No special wiring needed but the door panel had to be taken off in order to install, something to do with the wiring being routed from/through the speaker in the door. I only installed the oem HK pillar speakers, can't afford a full upgrade at the moment. Noticeable difference, but not massive.

I believe the tweeters have a special connector that is meant to be plugged into the stock HK speaker in the door. Since you don't have the HK door speakers, they likely had to splice into the stock wiring to get a signal.

If it's anything like the 2010 1er M Sport I used to own; the tweeter plugs straight into the stock speaker as they have a secondary connector on them, and the difference is incredibly noticeable as I carried out this fitting back then... A very simple upgrade.

Just ordered the HK tweeters and housings this morning. Will report back on whether splicing is required into the stock speaker or not.

Fitted today; had to splice into the existing speaker cables using Scotchlok connectors. All good though; soundstage is a definite improvement. £72.72 from Cotswold BMW Parts.
