Difference between 228 m sport/ m235 suspension
Is there a difference between the 228i m sport and the m235, the only reason I ask this is because when you get the m sport it says upgraded suspension. I just wanted to know if there would be a difference between the two.

My understanding is that the 228i m-sport has the same suspension as the M235i without the adaptive sport suspension.

The 228i and M235i don't share the same part numbers for at least dampers for any configuration of suspension. Even the 228i w/ adaptive suspension is not the same as the M235i with adaptive suspension. And as far as I know, the M235i is not available without adaptive suspension in the US. That is, unless you spring for the M Performance suspension.
So yes, there is a difference, but I couldn't tell you how much or in what way. The suspension in the M Sport is definitely upgraded from the base model, but how it compares to the M235i I wouldn't know. |

That's true. It makes me feel pretty good about my 228i, but I might be a little disappointed I think, had I gotten the M235i. That said, H&R just released springs for the 228i today, so I may jump on those very soon.

Do you have adaptive? Would the springs work with active suspension?

I'm very curious to see what H&R did different with the 228 springs in comparison to the 235 springs. I've been running the 235i springs on my 228i since the day I bought the car and haven't had any issues with ride quality.

Looks like we might finally close on our house next week, so springs and other purchases might have to wait a little while, but I'm curious to see real-world drop measurements between the 50482 springs and the 28891-2 springs. |

I did before and after measurements on my car with the 28891-2 springs. I do have the M sport suspension so that gave me slightly more of a drop. Currently only have 1 finger gap all around.

I am sure all 235i owners will run back to the dealer and ask to downgrade to the 228i....

But, personally, had I splurged for the "better" car, expecting more power, better suspension, etc, then I might be a little disappointed if it were as compliant as my 228i suspension. I would expect sportier handling from the factory. If you're happy with your M235i's setup, then that's great. Enjoy your car. I'm just saying I'd hope that the M235i would be a little more sport oriented from the factory than my 228i is. |
