Looking to Purchase a Used 17 M240i
So I have an opportunity to pick up a 17 M240i with Drivers Assistance Pkg, Moonroof Delete, and Heated Seats, that's it. I am worried that there is something wrong with it since it was traded in with just 970 miles! I test drove the M240i and it felt great! It's not from a BMW dealer, it's at a Chevy Dealer. The exterior and interior are clean. The interior still has the dealership plastic from BMW?
The Sales Manager told me an Older Gentleman traded his Corvette in for the M240i, missed his Corvette and ended up trading in the M240i for another Corvette. What should I be looking for? Was this possible a press car that was beaten on? Any major issues with 17's? Thanks! Last edited by BMW12; 05-10-2018 at 07:07 PM.. |

What silvercas said. My 17 m240 needed a new turbo within 1k miles because it was leaking oil. No tsb that I’m aware of for it so can’t say it’s a known issue. I think there was a minor tsb that I didn’t know about during my last oil change, but if I didn’t notice any issues then it must not of been too important. The dealer could tell you everything you need to know. $300 for a thorough look at the dealer would be worth it on such a big investment.

I lied. I forgot about this SIB 34 05 15. Took my car in for oil change and I was hearing the click of a bad wheel bearing. They said that TSB was for the clicking. Microscopic slippage between the hub and rotor I believe and the fix is adding a small spacer between the 2.

I chose to use a local dealer to order a car to be built to the exact specification that I wanted. Update: After the order for a 2018 fell through due to a lack of allocations, I went ahead and bought the new 2017 M240i Brian Harris BMW was selling for a flat $10K under MSRP.
