Is Dinan Stage I California-legal?
I'm looking into buying an 2017 M240i with a preinstalled Stage I Dinan tune right now, and it seemed as though this would be California legal. I'm not sure which part is installed exactly, but I believe it's a Dinantronics Elite v1, as it claims to bring power to 414 and torque to 478 (both at the crank).
I noticed, however, that Dinantronics Elite v2 is not Cali-legal, so I'm here to ask if whatever is installed in this car is legal? I believe it's the original Dinantronics Elite v1 for B58, as I said, but I can't find information. (I've been a bimmerpost lurker for a while, but this is my first post.) |

Stage 1, SKU D440-1641-ST1, for the 2016 M235i is the last CA legal tuner Dinan produced. Anything for model years 2017 and beyond have not been approved by Cali to be emissions legal even though they meet federal standards the other 49 states follow. This is disclosed on their website.
