Are 6MT M240i coupes always this scarce?
Hey guys, I'm looking to get into something newer than my 08 135i. I test drove a very nice M235i today with the M Performance LSD and MPE, but unfortunately, I thought the auto was terrible for the application. I'm no stranger to the ZF8 in BMWs, but for such a sporty car, I feel it fell apart trying to drop 4 gears after spamming the paddle shifters. I've been on the lookout for a 6mt M240i although I've never driven a stick (I'm 19 and just haven't had the opportunity), but damn is the selection limited.
This is what I see nationwide: https://www.autotempest.com/results?...ansmission=man Is the selection always so poor? I know the take rate for the manual is low, but man, I hoped for more than 8 coupes nationwide. I feel that the only one I have any interest in is very overpriced, but with so few cars on the market, I guess they can charge what they want. I just don't want to pass up on this one and regret it because there may not be another one I like for some time. |

The odds of getting your desired color combo, packages, mileage, and price in MT is going to be tough. I'm in the same bought, may have to buy new which I was hoping to avoid.

This is true. My wants are an exterior other than white or black, and interior other than black, 6mt, coupe, summer tire package, and the nav screen. I'm willing to overlook one of those if it is the right car, but I'm in no hurry to buy. If I wanted to buy new, I'd get an M2 instead. But that car isn't worth the money for the car or the insurance at this point in my life.

I think the M2 comp is probably worth the coin when you consider the resale over a new M240i. By the way, is your username in reference to the Ruger MPR?

I couldn't even find a MT... Crazy! Bit the bullet, neged the best possible deal for a 2020 and it has been about 30 days since the order... about 45-60 more to go... |

Rare enough that the only one I've ever seen in the wild was ordered that way for euro delivery. When you consider how relatively rare a 2 is, it's not surprising that manuals are super rare. And the people who do have manuals are generally hanging on to them.
They are way more common on M2's, where the take rate is about 50%. You would probably have better luck finding a nice used first gen N55 M2 with a manual. |

A one-year membership is $48.
Keep in mind that a car listed as having a manual transmission doesn't mean that it has a manual transmission. It just means that's how the car was listed.

I believe the ads are open to viewing to all. I just looked on my phone without any login. Google BMWCCA classifieds.
But, the club is excellent. I just re-upped for five years before the price increase coming in February. |

I too re-upped in time to get five years at the pre-increase rate. I'd argue that Roundel is worth the cost of membership all by itself.

I just tried the link again and it worked without an "access denied" page. Weird. I only see 1 6mt m235i on the site, and I think it's an excellent example. It's obviously been cared for with the clear bra, frequent oil changes, etc. I wish it had some color and a moonroof, though.

That guy with the orange car is wack if he thinks he is getting $59,000, and an M2, in any case, is just a bit more car than I need. I really wish I could like the ZF8's molasses downshifts

The M240i became available in 2017, so figure if most people driving them are on a 3-year lease, then you should see a lot of CPO and pre-owned hitting the market in 2020-2021.

I just wanted to point out that you can hold down the left paddle and the car will drop to the lowest gear immediately without having to shift through each gear. Just an FYI in case you decide to go with the auto. This is the first auto car I have ever owned and I had serious reservations of not getting a manual and It's really growing on me the more I drive it.

I've wondered - do dealers even stock the MT M240i? I've assumed almost all of them have been cars built to order.

There were two new M240i convertibles
at a dealer one town over in Lancaster last month and no others in all of South Central PA. We bought one, and the other was sold soon after. Keep in mind that convertibles don’t usually sell quickly in December |

The question is whether dealers stock MT 240s, though I agree that, if I were looking to score big on a convertible, I would search for one in stock in the winter in colder climes.
