2014 M235i coolant hose burst
The coolant line has broke off completely at mere 55k miles in my 2014 M235i. I am disappointed with low durability of engine components in BMWs (previously I had all kinds of gaskets leaking). And people say GM is bad. In my experience BMW is no better. Did anybody else have this problem ? Is the repair expensive ?

The recommended replacement mileage for this is at 60K so you've been a bit unlucky at 5K short of this point:
This isn't an official BMW chart - it's drawn from owner postings on this and the UK F22/23 forums. It's why I have extended warranty on my M235i: it's cheaper than implementing the above preventive maintenance schedule.

Also keep in mind AGE. You bought a 2014 CAR. An 8 year old car with only 55k miles means it sat in a garage or a lot rotting away most of its life. Rubber components fail quicker when they get exposed to dry rot (lack of moisture), coolant acts as both a cooling agent and lubricant for rubber seals and hoses. Would explain the premature failure (55k vs 60k isn't really that early all things considered).
Should be a simple fix outside of the necessary coolant flush. |

Of course if yours is stuck somewhere add the tow. And if you bring it to a dealer add all the other things that they will "find" that you may not necessarily need. This said, nothing will happen to your car that has not happened to all of ours before yours. It's much better to deal with your oil filter housing and valve cover leaks before they are a problem. I just changed my water pump and thermostat again with parts from FCP with lifetime coverage. ///Rich |

Have you lived under a rock?
This is a super common failure point on the N55s. Keep in mind your car has been in service over 8 years. Stuff does wear out and fail. It's not the mileage, it's the age. The part is less than $40 USD and takes maybe 5 minutes to replace. This is the only common cooling issue/failure point on the later model N55s. Even the electric water pumps last far longer (100K+) than the earlier N55s.
