Signal Interference With Tints
I am planning on having my windows tinted next week and got a good price on 3M basic auto tint. However I am concerned about signal interference as these are not ceramic tints. I have gps and will obviously be using a cell phone. Is this something that I should be concerned about and does anyone have any problems with non-ceramic tints?

The only tints you should worry about are metallic tints, these may have an effect on signals. Many tint shops don't even offer this film.
Regular film or ceramic film will not affect your signals at all. |

Just make sure it isn't the 3m Metallic Shade tint. Color stable and Fx Premium 3m tint is fine. I'm going to tint pretty soon as well, and have been looking at different 3m tints for a while now.

On my Chrysler 300, the antenna is built into the rear window. I personally just went non metallic for that window and metallic the rest of the way around.

I have used 3M carbon tint the last two times and never had an issue. Can't beat the lifetime warranty.

I have Llumar CTX which is the highest end of the llumar tints.
I went 30%. CTX is a ceramic heat rejection tint. Will not affect your signals. A Carbon tint is also fine just not as good with heat rejection. Just remember, NO metallics. |
