Lol I'm on the same page as you man. Liqui moly oil and brake fluid too. So do you know if the "fronts" are the same as the rear?

I forget the accelerated bed in procedure, but I think it can be done with a couple laps around the track.

Mine have been pretty good so far, they barely squeal at all. Sometimes under light braking in a parking lot.

And yeah, maybe I'll give them a try. Any wear components from Fcp is a huge advantage in my eyes. Did you see that they have the mperformance rotors now!

They are only listed as "fronts" is there a difference between fronts and rears? Or would you just buy 4 "fronts". I thought on our cars the rotors we're 340x30 front and rear. Unless you have upgraded to 370 in front.
it's 340x30 front 345x24 rear

took me about 800-900 miles for the rotor to get even color meaning...all the pad making contact

Just spray some WD-40 on the rotor face... you will not hear any squeaky anymore at least not from the brakes

so took it easy yesterday at limerock... didn't even swap to the pfcs, i used the yellow stuffs. I changed my braking habits to accommodate and I have to say...

These yellow stuffs do handle track without issues if you take care of them.

Was able to drive home on them after an hour on track. They are a little soft, so need another flush, but not glazed at all.

Typically id hit 135mph and stand on my brakes at the 3 board and trail into the apex of turn one. With yellows i started braking earlier and softer and used the brakes to swing the ass out a few feet from the apex.

regardless still at 1:02:09 as fastest lap.

Need to loose weight....

Nice to hear. I ran the Yellows at Are27 and they did "ok" as well, it's a very fast track, compared to LRP, though. I was running them on the street all last year, and they were fine, very little noise and good street performance.

Was your lap time w/chicane ? Just curious. Cheers,

D

Don't run chicane, only gt cars do. We would be Touring or TC class with uphill.

Fastest is a 1:02:9 with ms100 octane, but yesterday on just 93 was putting down similar times. So next time its race gas, hoping on the 1:00 or less one day.

video was off, but found this gem on youtube.

I would like to get your advice on which break pads to buy.

I drive a 2014 M235i and do about 8000 miles a year. On average I do maybe one or two track days per year (Laguna Seca and Sonoma). The stock pads aren't that great but because they were free under the BMW 4 maintenance I did not bother to get something else.

I will need to change the front and the rears very soon and would like to upgrade them.

My main concerns is they should not make any noise for street use and have a descent performance on the track (as long as they do better that the stocks...).

They should also be super easy to replace (I'm novice...) and accommodate the wear sensors.

According to my research it looks like EBC could be a good option but wondering if I should go with the yellow or red stuff?

ebc yellows and motul 600 fluid.

you may get a squeaky pair which will go away in one track day or a few hundred miles of regular driving.

Ordered a set of akebono. A week later they’re delivered. Someone steals the package off my front door before I can get home.
Get replacement from Turner Motorsport 2 weeks later.

Finally get a chance to install the brakes... they don’t fit...

Note: akebono does not make brake pads for the blue bmw brakes

GT350R? lol

Awesome, sub 1:00 on a street driven car, is impressive at LRP. Not much power can do to help on a track like that..

I'm using Endless MX72s as a double duty pad.
They are OK but not as good as I was expecting for the money.
They are more consistent and last longer on track than stock, but I can still get them smoking after 3 hard laps and a cool down lap.

On the road they will get noisy after a period of slow daily driving in traffic as the transfer layer wears off.
Not squeally, more of a scraping, grinding noise. Sounds like they are chewing through the rotors.
I've used the MX72. Great street pad. OK for very light track use.

EBC yellow fronts are onsale for the 235. DP42130R - $156.77 shipped. Good deal if you need a spare set for track days.

That's my impression as well.
The events I do are generally only three hot laps at a time so they cope and are more consistent than the stock pads.

I have an M240i. I’m running 200 brake fluid and RS4’s. I do about six track days a year. Debating between EBC yellow or Porterfield R4-S. I’d like to run my brakes on both street and track but I’m willing to swap out after track days since I have dedicated track wheels anyway. What do you guys think? If I swap pads out to OEM after track days, anything special I need to do? Any issues? Will the 235i pads fit 240i? A lot of the manufacturer websites don’t list the 240i.

Be sure to use brake grease on the back side of both pads, and along the edges. That should address your squealing.
Put these on this weekend, with fresh ATE fluid, and SS lines.

What a big improvement in pedal feel and initial bite over the stockers (mine had 17k on them). Re-used stock rotors as I'm sure they are fine.

My biggest worry was the pedal feel, car is is 95% a street car, so I just wanted lower dust pad, gaining some firmer pedal feel was just a bonus.

WINNER WINNER.

This may be a good thread to ask in. What's everyone's opinion on swapping pads in for track days. Does anyone think that swapping pads back and forth with the same rotors would be an issue?
