I have mine tinted to 5% all around. It isn't legal, but I've never been hassled for it. Summers in the US South get toasty, so with black leather seats window tinting is essential.

5% is a hassle at night. I'd rather spend a little extra and get ceramic tint all the way around. Does a better job with keeping the car cool. I have 35% on my MW with 70% on the windshield. Never have an issue with sitting down after my car has been in the sun all day. I never even bothered with a sun shade on the windshield.

I personally love tint. I think it looks great, keeps your car Much cooler (cools down faster and requires less AC through out the drive), criminals are less likely to break in because it's not as easy to peek inside and see something on the seat that they want, protects the interior from sun, protects YOU from the sun. OH and it gives you and your partner more privacy
I did and usually do, 20% in the back, 35% in the front. 35% is just light enough to not be a hinderance at night, at least where I live. |

Went 35% all around love it. I didn't understand everything the guy was saying but apparently going from 40% (my original choice) to 35% you get a lot more benefits. After that it's mostly cosmetic, ie not similar performance gain going from 35% to 30%.

I don't think I will be tinting my car. It makes the car look used and older. It looks so much cleaner without tint. Fish-bowling for life!

Tint is a definite requirement for me, especially in S. Fl. I've usually done 30-35%. I just had the M235 tinted with 3M Crystalline (sp) 40% which is the darkest offered. It blocks 60% of the heat! But was pricey at $428 vs the $180 I paid on the prior car.

Wow you did it right, that's pretty much the best stuff you can get. I would have done it for $430. But over here in OC Cali, they want like $800 for it....

I'm happy with the tint and am surprised they want so much in your area. I'm doing a lease, so with 27 months remaining $428 for tint was not the brightest move on my part, lol.

Can you post some good photos in daylight of how your tint looks? I'm considering the same 3M stuff but have never seen it before.

I had mine tinted with Winco IR 45% and it really helps with the heat.
Not only when its parked baking in the sun, but when driving having the AC on, it keeps interior much cooler which I won't need to blast the fan. Secondly, I think it's an added security from someone wanting to break you window to take stuff. |

Five3three, it will be raining here the next few days so pics of my tint will be delayed. In this thread you can see the tint pretty well in two pics. abhmaher (sp) has the same 40% 3M Crystalline.

Np, thanks for the link. I also found a couple of others for F30s so I have a better idea of what it looks like. |

Ehhh it's worth it. You'll be cool and happy for 27 months you'll forget about the $400 soon. I'm doing my windshield soon too. Completely clear but only lets in %40 heat with the usual 99.9% uv protection.

I've personally tinted all of Bimmers with 20% all around. Not too much and definitely makes a noticeable difference in keeping out a lot of the sunlight. When I had my 1er untinted I just felt like everyone was looking at me, and I had to use the A/C more to keep it cool inside.

3M CR70 all around on my 3GT. The car is now has the level of IR/UV protection that should be standard, with the added bonus of a few small bubbles.

I tinted my windows. I tinted the windows on each of the cars I bought my kids (3ers), and my other three cars also have tinted windows.
It's good protection from the sun and as such it helps the car stay less hot than it'd otherwise become when sitting in the sun. Mind, when the temps are in the 90s, it doesn't matter much, but with more moderate temperatures, it helps a lot. I applied 20% on the rear windows and 30% on the front ones. (lower number = darker from the installer whom I used) I think it looks nicer than not tinted too, but that's just an ancillary benefit; I wouldn't have done it if that were all I'd get by doing it. I just went with an inexpensive tint material. I'd seen a lot of the discussion about the 3M ceramic tint and whatnot, but the price of that stuff was significantly higher than the stuff my installer offers. My SUV has had on it for some 15+ years whatever generic tinting film he installed and it still works and isn't marred or peeling or anything. It's been seven years on my e92, and it's doing just fine as well, although I can't say whether he changed brands/types of tinting film between when I had it done the first time and when he did the subsequent applications. I'm thus convinced that there's no point in spending the extra money to get the 3M ceramic. All the best.
