1st world problem, wheres the "NEXT" button

So whilst I was having battery problems, and testing things for current drains, new battery, etc I had a lot of the "luxury" items off.

So now 2ish weeks later I unlearned what I thought I knew about my idrive.

for the life of me I "thought" there was a NEXT button/facility, so that when I am playing a song, I hit NEXT and the next song comes on, especially useful in SHUFFLE mode, just hitting next till what I want to comes on.

Now I "THOUGHT" this was pretty easy as I had been doing this, now brain can't remember. I can lean over to the buttons on the radio (passenger side) and hit the left or right, but I "tHOUGHT" on either the i drive selector wheel or steering wheel buttons I could do it

Have I lost my friggin mind ?

I can't find anything in any manuals either

First world problem yes I know, but that's why I drive a BMW

2021 BMW M240i  [10.00]
Should be the little spinning button on right side of steering wheel.

On the iDrive screen (may depend on iDrive version, mine is v4 non-Nav), ‘next’ is the default icon selected when the current song is shown and is playing, so when on that screen a push of the controller will skip to the next track.

If it's that convoluted to do simple tasks then I'm glad I bought a "stupid" non-nav model.

I have the pre-lci steering wheel with the up/down toggle on the right side. So for me it's up/down, click.

Or through idrive it's media button, turn wheel 1 or 2 clicks then press.

Maybe older is better in this case.

Edit: I forgot, it's a wheel on pre-lci right side too but apparently is more useful. Point still stands.

the more and more I think about it, BMW's latest stuff really blows, my 1 series, was the mutts nutts. fully loaded, drove fantastic, engine was bullet proof, winter driving not a problem, audio awesome, didn't die if not driven, could shuffle it off the driveway 10yds till the cows came home, I was sick in hospital and the car was on the drive for a month and STARTED first turn of the key

only thing was the comfort access died and would have been expensive to repair and was starting look a bit dated.

I mean, I DO like the styling of the car, the interior os more spacious and when the car drives, it's awesome.

God, why do BMW do this crap, first effcient dynamics and crappy battery charging and now this. UGGGS I am def going to re-consider buying another BMW

There is no way to do it with a single click, like the 1 series could, but you can:

1. Rotate the thumb wheel down one step, so the next track is highlighted.
2. Press down on the thumb wheel to start playing the highlighted track.

It takes a little bit to get used to doing it without looking, I guess, but now I like the selection list + thumb wheel system enough that I don't miss the E82 1er's previous/next buttons. I do however wish the F22 had the recirculated-air mode selector on the steering wheel like the E82 does.

(And to play the current track from the beginning, press down on the thumb wheel twice.)
