Castrol or Mobil oil?

I'm just bored waiting for my M235 to go into productions, so to pass time, I research things..

So I first went to Mobil's site and input the M235 and they recommended
Mobil 1 - 0W-40 then I went to Castrol's site since bmw recommends it.

Castol recommends 5W-30.

I read the manual you can go 0/5w - 30/40 range.
My opinion both is not that big of a difference, but which would you choose?

Also, manual didn't say how many quarts the N55 motor takes.
Anyone know for sure?

Really depends on your climate. Go 0-40W if you will have below freezing temperatures for more than a couple weeks a time. Run 5-30W during the warmer months of the year.

Myself, I never reach the recommended change interval of 12,000 miles in a year and always end up with the early yearly oil change. If you drive high miles you could do one yourself in the middle of the year using the right grade for your weather conditions.

Just under 7 quarts of oil is required (6.9) for change with filter. Surf your dealer sites for Service Specials when you want to do a change. Some of my area dealers offer specials changes under $100 which is just about the cost of oil and supplies.

Personally I'm a fan of M1 0w-40 and you can buy it in 5qt jugs at Wal Mart for ~23 bucks
