OTA Map Updates - WTF?!

Hey guys;

A few weeks back, I was on a phone call and received a prompt on my iDrive screen to start the process of OTA map updates. However, being on an important call, I didn't want to risk the option of being disconnected, so I simply backed out of the update option, thinking it would return on next startup.

It never did.

In the map content options list, the settings "gear" icon seems to be grayed out, which is where (I presume) the option to check for updates would be listed.

Does anyone know of a way to re-start that OTA update process?

Thanks!

I remember seeing a menu option to update map data. I can't remember where right now but I'll check once I'm back home in the evening and post it here if I find it.

My car got an OTA update a while back, I guess it was a map update though I didn't notice anything new. What I did notice was that all my preset key functions were wiped clean. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this data stored on the key ? I know the seat memory and mirror setting are and they weren't affected by the update.

I've had 3 or 4 regional map updates since last year. The only thing I ever lost to a map update (as opposed to a recall ECU reflash) was the custom "Areas to Avoid" in the Navigation Route Preferences function.
