So I installed the Match DSP AMP

I have some questions for the pros here.

1. When you use the microphone to analyze the sound is it possible to leave the amp hooked up or do you do one step at a time?

2. Do you leave a usb cord hooked up to the amp to make changes instead of pulling the car apart if you want to make any changes? (The trunk seal is a big fat PTA!!

Big thanks to Zooks527 for an excellent amp install writeup and to Dirtboy for providing the motivation to try the new amp from Match.

Not sure why you WOULDN'T leave the USB cord hooked up - seems dumb. Also while the trunk is apart I'd spend the extra $5 for materials to prewire for an in trunk sub.

Not sure what you mean about number 1. But for number 2 it's best to leave the USB cable attached to the amp. Tuck it somewhere in the trunk liner so that it doesn't get snagged on anything.

I was trying to figure out how to use the real time analyzer? I am guessing you need long cord to Amp to computer and a long cord from computer to microphone in the cab? I got the mic you recommended. Looks great once I can figure it out

Yeah you'll have to do that. Plus you'll need a way to generate pink noise through the system to use the RTA. You can download audio signals on the Audiotec Fischer web site: https://www.audiotec-fischer.de/en/d...ool-version-4/

Prewiring as running a line out from amp to where ever I plan to run the sub?

You probably need to buy a different cable now that I think about it, you need a 90 degree for it to be OK to leave connected not sure what yours arrived with.

Yes, run the line out and a remote on/off wire I put mine with a lot of slack near the battery under the cover in the trunk, just taped it down there and forgot about it until I was ready.

Also ran remote for both Match amp and JL amp from armrest at that stage.

Car is in shop I'll take some pics when I get it back. I have convertible so I had Visual Ice custom make me a box to fit in the cavity on the seat back - he makes one stock for coupe though fits on the left.

Amp I mounted under the floor, removed the emergency fix a flat and used heavy duty double sided tape to mount vertically near battery.

Here you go. Armrest with Match remote and bass knob for JL (little silver knob) along with FiiO. Then 8" Focal in custom box for convertible. Finally amp mounted with double sided tape next to battery. Easy access to adjustment knobs but hidden away.

Very nice. Looks like you have Hi-Def player for lossless music? Also are you running a dashcam or radar detector?

My 19 doesn't seem to have ignition wire for aux items. I think I found a solution but curious what you would do?

Yes dashcam and radar both escort using the same mirror tap. They share the same mount too it's very easy.

Lossless in your case you can use USB but then BMW gear does the decoding or run straight into your match amp. Lack of Aux In makes matters more complicated. If it were me I'd just UsB I did that in dad's car because it was easiest for him and it sounded fine.

Where is the power coming from. I hooked mine to radio but when radio is off, no radar? Where are you pulling the 12v from? Thanks!

The power mirror assembly I forget which wires maybe brown and green but search the forum to confirm.

Sorry I missed some of this the first time. I have seen some companies like Blendmount offer a mirror tap? Did you use something like this? Thank you

Thanks much!! You got this $h1t down!!

Does the mirror tap have constant power or does it have the delayed shutdown like the car?

My installer recommended a delayed shutdown piece. I am curious to your thoughts on this one?

Also any other little tricks or difficulties with going in the mirror?
