Snow tire fitment

Im the proud new owner of a 228i Xdrive Msport with THP, I'm currently on the staggered setup. I learned I needed 18" wheels to clear the m sport breaks. For winter I purchased a square setup of 225/45/R18's. I was wondering if anyone had run this setup on their car and had any fitment issues. Currently the car has 225/40R18 in the front and 245/35R18 in the rear. I used to own a nissan and have no clue what i'm doing to be honest!

You do not need 18" wheels whoever told you that doesn't know what they are talking about. You should also post in the wheels and tires section not here.

Congrats on the new car! Fitment issues would have more to do with the wheel spec's rather than the tire spec's you mention. Can you share the wheel spec's?

Although many shops are unaware, there are a decent number of 17" wheels that will clear the M sport breaks. Tirerack has a bunch listed on their site, if you're interested. I currently have a set of 17" BBS SR's on the way for my M240i. Admittedly, I've not test fit these myself yet, but there are numerous folks on the forums that run these.

Also, the tire size you've listed is larger in diametre than the stock setup by nearly 1 inch, so your speedometre is going to be off. It will likely read a few MPH slower than you are actually travelling due to the larger tire size.

If by chance I'm wrong on any of the above, hopefully someone will chime in and correct me.
