Why are you selling?

I'm amazed at the comradery over here on the 2er boards. I have received much for feedback on my posts here than there. It might have to do with the lower volumes of 2er owners? Seems like a lot of immaturity over there.

I am still up in the air between a 2 or 4 coupe. I need to spend more time test driving. I am loving the sheer power of the M234i. But do I really need it? To be honest I could settle for a 228i Msport. They're tunable and look great. Side by side I prefer the looks of the 4 series Msport but I wouldn't mind having either in my garage. I think I've seen one 2er on the road in my area. See 3's all day long, although mostly sedans.

I haven't found a car I would buy yet, so still have time. Really tough to find a local car with what I want. One of the pros for the M235i is that there are two at my closest dealership. One ZF8 and one 6MT. The 6MT has a lot of miles for the year. I would lean towards the ZF8 as I like the color combo as well as the miles.

39k miles is still up there. My car had 22k miles on it and that's more what I'd prefer.

It is going to take me a year to find a car!

The 4 banger turbo BMW motors do not have near the reliability of the N55 motor, especially the N55 in the M235. When you tune, all bets are off as the N55 greatly exceeds that the 4 banger turbo. The factory modded N55 in the M235 is made for light racing. It has a forged crank, oil squirters in the cylinder bores, and a robust oil cooling system. All these parts are also found in the M2 and NOT in the N55s found in any year 335/435.

4 banger turbo BMW motors have issues with their timing chains and issues when tuned. They also sound terrible, especially at idle and you don't get that BMW I6 feel and sound.

All good info here and a very valid reason to put the M235i at the top of my list. Forged crank...I'm in!

Is this too much car for a daily driver? I love spirited driving as my commute takes me through country back roads with plenty of turns.
Seems to me that the M235i is what you're wanting then. You get a nice step up in performance, a rock solid engine, and that one step closer to a true M car.
Comfort mode will give you a more relaxed drive if you need it, and Sport will kick it into fun mode for the twistys. Sounds like a good progression from your 328i.

For what it is worth, I live in New England and use my M240 6MT convertible year round as a daily driver. I love this thing. Zero issues to date. I hardly take my motorcycle in to worker bicycle commute anymore regardless of weather. Long term average 25.2 mpg. I can drive it sportily or lope along depending on my attitude.

I test drove the Mineral / Terra M235i. Amazing motor in these cars. Felt kind of tall but maybe this is because my car sits on the ground. Steering was definitely different but on hard cornering felt great. Seems to firm up with speed as well. Drove in Sport+ the entire time with traction control disabled. It really hits the gears hard manually shifting. Pretty impressive trans.

Visible signs of dog hair in the car, not that there's anything wrong with that, but definitely had a dog in the car...even in the boot. Deep scratches in the rear center console, possibly from hauling something.

Curb rash pretty bad on one wheel and I can see the rear bumper has been hit as the paint is spider webbed and there is a split on a body seam from the bumper pinching.

I also noticed a wire harness partially unraveling. Not sure if this is a sign of a mod that was removed or not. Maybe someone could chime in here?

The car is for sure priced too high at $31,990. CPO will only get warranty out to January 2020 which is basically a year.

Any thoughts?

That piece of tape can loose its adhesive properties likely due to heat in the engine compartment, I have put a tie wrap on it on my car to stop it unravelling.

I would have the bumper looked at, though, as external spider webbing in the paint may just be cosmetic, but also could hide thousands of $ in damage to the bumper cover and components underneath.

Something I did not research when I purchase my last car was stereo features.

Does this stereo stream Pandora via bluetooth? My current car does not. It has hands free phone functionality but I cannot stream anything from my phone.

Is there a particular option I need to make sure it comes equipped with?

Even the B48? I had heard about timing chain problems (the problem itself I don’t remember - stretch, presumably) in early N20s, but that was some years ago now. Also the B48 in my car sounds fine at idle. It’s an idling engine with noisy injectors, like all of them really.

You should be able to stream pandora via Bluetooth (it's listed on the Bmw connected app). I personally use Amazon music all the time without any issues, so should be the same set up.

I just want to circle back on this thread to thank everyone for their help. After test driving both 2ers and 4ers and finally making a decision I am now the proud owner of #85... 2016 435i ZHP!
