I have a 2016 M235xi. I have an obnoxious rattle coming from the glove compartment area. It's pretty loud and we've made a couple attempts to fix it but no luck yet. That's the only real rattle, but it's a pretty bad one.

I also had my A/C go out randomly on a road trip. A software update supposedly fixed it. They have also replaced one of the fans for the blower on the A/C as well.

I have had a periodic clunk coming from the front drivers side wheel since the car was new. Have taken it multiple times and they've never found the culprit, but it's getting worse now that it's older so I imagine it will show itself soon.

So overall I'd say this car has been very reliable!

Bought a 2015 mineral grey in April after spending several hours reading this board. I use it as my daily from SF to Cupertino 5 days a week. Couldn't be happier, love the car!

I plan to sell my 2016 Estoril/Oyster 228ix MSport vert 8AT soon. 11,400 miles in pristine condition. Getting some dealer quotes next week.

Great color combo! I would ask them why it's not CPOd, for that money it definitely should be. Other than that if everything checks out, looks like a great example.
I did ask why it is not a CPO car. The salesman indicated there could have been a maintenance windows skipped or some BS like that. Starting to feel uneasy about this particular car. The one at the Salem dealership was a BMW Finance Car and I know they have very strict policies on those cars. X number of miles per year, all maintenance done on time, etc.

I am running away from this particular car as fast as I can. One of the reasons I love this forum and the BMW community. This car has had quite the history.

Glad to be of help. Be patient you'll find a good one. Also most of the MPE shit aside from the LSD is nice but not need to have. It's all cosmetic or sound good bullshit minimal performance gains.

In 2016, my bro was lucky enough to find a 2013 335xdrive (N55 auto) after extensive searching. It was a lease-return from a middle-aged woman. You could tell she rarely went past 4500 rpm, for better/worse, but I'd say better.

I've driven leases (non-BMW) as if they were my own car, partly because they might wind up being so. But most guys will pretty much beat the heck out of a lease. Original owner less so, but more costly.

I agree with you that the M240i is overpriced, new or used. But I'm sure you will find your sweet M235i from a person who respected the vehicle during ownership. Best of luck. Sometimes the choosing process is almost as exciting as the delivery!

Sorry I meant all the m performance stuff not just the exhaust. None of it impacts driving dynamics. All of it can be had in the classifieds too for good buys.

Too bad this car is not at a BMW dealership...

https://www.audibeaverton.com/used/B...a256f7dc3b.htm

Carfax shows it was purchase at the same dealership I purchased my car. Not sure how someone could trade in a lease to a non-BMW dealership. I've never done a lease so not sure how that works?

Looks like a great car. 6MT which I wouldn't mind. Love to color combo.

The Gold extended warranty is roughly equivalent to the CPO warranty and the 6 year plan (2 years coverage after original warranty runs out) can be purchased from some dealers for about $2k after some negotiation.
This is priced 4K too high, and I have another person saying my goal price is too low...

You live in Washington State? Not sure what the "Big M" is?

Trading in a lease at a not the same manufacturer dealership is entirely possible. I got rid of my Lexus at a BMW dealership. Best decision ever!

My comment was about the first car the OP linked. It was an auto 2015 with your basic packages but almost 40k miles, and no LSD or MP bits. It was priced at ~$32k. I've seen that kind of car on the classifieds section here go for mid-20s quite a few times. The OP later linked a different car that had lower miles and more options, but had a suspect history.

If you look in the classified section right now, you will see a 2014 with 55k miles for $19.9k, a well loaded 2014 with 32k miles for $24.9k, and other examples including 2015s and 2016s in the mid-high $20k range.

I never thought about looking in the classified section on here. Problem is the states over here are huge and big cities far apart. 4 hours to Seattle, 9 hours to San Francisco. Is there a way to sort the classified adds by location?

I don't think there is a way to sort the ads by location. If you don't mind traveling a bit, there are plenty of good deals to be had. I've done fly/buy/drive home quite a few times, with the car being as far as 1200 miles away, with mostly positive results. You could even fly to check the car out in person before finalizing the deal, and have the car shipped home if the deal is good enough. I've had friends do this and get great deals.

If you're looking for 2015 or newer with the 8zf, there is a member on here selling a 2015 EB m235i with 35k miles that looks clean and pretty well loaded for $28k asking price in SLC. I'm sure there are similar deals at dealers if you do some searching and are willing to travel a bit.

took ownership of my m235i today, and boy, it was a rocket compared to the e92 325i i traded in. after driving spiritedly on quiet roads, it became difficult to keep to the speed limit on the main roads, travelling at 70kmh felt like i was going at 40kmh. It truly ruins you haha. I now understand why some people pick the 228i over the m235i, the latter just gets you up to speed instantly, it often seems like you have to end the fun prematurely on city roads. Granted, I just got the m235i, so I'll have to readjust my driving patterns and habits to suit a car of this power and calibre.

I don't understand how can a transmission be so silky smooth in 2-8 gear and at same time so jerky in 1-2. What is even the reason for 1st gear? Makes no sense.
