228i/230i 17" wheels on M240i?

Looking to put together a set of 17" winters for my M240i and am having a hard time determining if certain other OEM BMW wheels will fit the uncommon offset on the M240i and avoid rubbing, etc, so was thinking of keeping it simple and getting 17" wheels from a 228i or 230i. Would any 17" wheel from those cars fit an M240i?

thanks!

The stock 228 wheels will surprisingly fit over the M Sport brakes as a winter wheel. There is a picture somewhere in the for sale section that I ran across. Unless you are getting them second hand I would just go with aftermarket due to the high cost associated with OEM BMW wheels. The style 380 snowflake wheels on my 228 are around $350/ wheel. You can find a set of 17" wheels that will work on TireRack for a little more than that.

BBS SR or SX will fit, are less money and a better quality wheel.

Bear in mind though that the BBS wheels aren't designed for performance use from a weight perspective, as they are some of the heaviest wheels out there at 11.8kg / 26lbs for the SR and 13.2kg / 29lbs for the SX in 18x8 size compared with, for example the OEM 461 wheel at 11.2kg / 25lbs in 18x8 size (which is also on the heavy side for that size of wheel).

These are the BBS economy cast wheel, engineered to a price, but should work fine for winter tyres.

Fair but for a 17" winter wheel the goals are different. There are very few options and for that use weight isn't a chief concern. I'd say the BBS or Enkei makes one or two that fit. Beyond that you're looking at questionable quality at best.

18" yeah you've got a lot more options but that wasn't what OP was interested in. I run 18" Apex for example.

I just tested OEM 17" star spoke 394 style 225/50/17 7.5 ET37 (came off F30 328 with non-M-Sport brakes.) on my m240i. Fits fine-not the prettiest rims for a 2er, but should work well for winter. I will replace the rubber with 225/45/17 this winter.

Hope this helps.
