CPO on Lease Buyout

Hi fellow 2addicts,

I'm going to talk to my dealer this weekend about buying out my lease and getting the car CPO'd/buying a maintenance plan etc. Does anyone know some relevant questions to ask and important coverage items that I should get clarified before i sign the dotted line ? The decision to buy the car was an easy one. I've never had any issues with my car and love every minute driving it. I plan on keeping it for a few more years and if anyone has any suggestions on maintenance an upkeep out or warranty, i'd really appreciate it if you could share your experience.

Thanks,

Some will disagree, but if you're the original leasee, I think it's a waste of money to buy the CPO warranty on your own car. Additionally, I'm betting you're on a 3-year lease, but the warranty is 4-year/50,000 miles. So you still have that coverage. Yes I realize that BMWs can be expensive to maintain out of their covered maintenance period, and it's always a crapshoot. But I'd play the odds that in the long run, you'll save money by NOT buying that warranty after just three years. If it were a stranger's car, and older, maybe. But no one knows that car better than you.

By way of reference, I'm on my second 2er, and haven't had a problem with either. I turned in my 3-yr lease, and bought the second one.

If you're financing with bmw and you CPO and maintenance it buys down your rate to the point it is stupid not to do it. At least it used to be that way I haven't checked in a couple of months.

I'm not 100% sure about lease end but in most cases you can decouple WARRANTY from PREPURCHASE SERVICE.

I spoke to a SA from BMW Seattle and he was pretty shady on this, and I had to be super specific in my questions to get the WARRANTY quote without the pre-purchasing the SERVICE. You could do the service elsewhere (other BMW dealer or independent) and still keep your extended warranty. Of course they will try to sell you both.

Thank so much everyone, I really appreciate the support. In the end, even the BMW CA that i spoke to suggested that I didn't need to get it CPO'd since my car's mileage is really low(19k) and that I still have a year to decide if my driving situation changes.
They also confirmed that there isn't much of a rate reduction, they got me a better rate than BMWFS from a 3rd party bank. Car is mine now . YAY!
