Space Saver Spare for 230i no longer sold?
RealOEM shows this as part no. 36110445045, but I can't find a place to purchase one. Worse, it looks like BMW may not sell this direct to me on special order.
Any sources? ECS used to carry these but doesn't show it now. I was reminded of why I want one on a recent road trip where there were days without cell service. I don't trust the repair kit, and certainly there are all kinds of problems I can foresee where it would not be adequate. Is this another example of BMW deciding what's good for me? Thoughts? Suggestions? |

Here you go: http://www.bimmerzone.com/BMW_Perfor...2M235-KIT.html It's the black donut and not the fancy silver one but it all does the same thing. Also, it's ala carte so you can order whatever you need for your own kit.

Update on Space Saver Spare
I ordered the alloy version from the local dealer. Should be in in two weeks. The price is $400 CDN, so about $300 US, which is substantially less than the offerings from the aftermarket suppliers. I picked up a BMW scissor jack and handle from a wrecking yard for $40, and already have the chock and wrench.
Thanks for all the advice. Now to make an insert for the wheel to secure the tools, and finish making the storage bag. Thankfully I have a friend with an industrial sewing machine. The plan is to find a red naugahyde that matches the interior upholstery, and build in nylon webbing and fasteners so the wheel can be secured either in the trunk or in the rear seat using the child seat anchors. |

Does anyone know why ECS thinks it doesn't fit the F22? Is there maybe some part of the kit that is not compatible with the F22?
