Has your Fuel Door fallen off before?
So I get to work this morning and as I'm locking my car I noticed my fuel door is missing. My gas cap and the hinge is still there but the metal fuel door is just gone. No dents no scratches no body paint missing, the door is just straight up gone. I'm guessing it fell off on the highway this morning.
Luckily I'm at 40k of the 50k warranty and I have until next year until my warranty expires. I'm hoping this is something BMW would be able to address, we will see. I looked at the parts and they seem to be around sub $50 so if they don't replace it under warranty it should be a pretty painless fix. Has anyone had their fuel door fall off as well? This is quite a peculiar incident it's been a weird hungover morning haha. |

it's a $50 part but it will cost you around another 75-100$ to get it painted (they are sold primed). I had a tow hook cover stolen on a previous E92. I got it replaced for free but would have cost around 100$ to replace.

Just another example of shocking BMW 2-series quality and why everyone ought to be buying Audis </cynic> This is extremely odd. It can only have been stolen. It can't fall off, any more than a wing can fall off without being noticed. I had a look at mine; the big plastic block is affixed to the fuel filler panel in what looks like a number of places, either with adhesive or welds (effectively). |

I bought fuel this morning and the door was there then. I haven't looked since. I did approach the car from that side at the grocery store and think I'd have noticed the gaping hole if it was gone. Should I go out to the garage now? |

So the hinge and locking mechanism are still there. There's no sign of prying or scratches on the paint there's no reason why someone would steal it and if they did there would be damage. Also I would've noticed I believe before getting in my car if it was missing. It had to have fallen off on my highway commute.

Obviously a very freakish thing - a one in a million shot. Maybe you should buy a lottery ticket. Seriously, at least you're still under warranty.
