Cnautofans BMW M2 Double Carbon Fiber Hood AF-0570 review

Came across this hood and couldn't resist the price ($1500, and they give me a small discount).
https://www.cnautofans.com/products/...-0570-849.html

Much cheaper than Arma hood. http://www.armaspeed.com/bmw-m2/
https://www.x-ph.com/arma-speed-bmw-...on-fiber-hood/

I emailed Cnautofans and they informed me the carbon is made by resin infusion, double CF, weighs 11kg (stock 18kg). Initially I had reservation because it's made in China, but decided to pull the trigger because of the price.

The CF looks good in my opinion. I brought the hood to an auto shop and they were surprised with the good quality. Fit wasn't 100% perfect. I'd say about 95% fit. The gap between the L side of hood and L side of fender was slightly more (about 2-3mm) than the R side, but it isn't too noticeable unless you look at it very closely.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with this hood. Sure it's not dry carbon, it isn't the strongest nor lightest hood around. It's not 100% fit but it's pretty damn close. But with the price, I can't complaint.

Oooh! That's nice... save about 15lbs over OEM.

True the Arma hood is like $900 more, but its also ANOTHER 6 lbs lighter, so roughly $150 a pound... WOOF!

Did note this little Seibon gem, granted, not a M2 style hood, but definitely on the 'inexpensive' front (only $632 and weigh's in at 22 lbs)...

I came across the Seibon one too but I prefer the M4 GTS looking hood. More aggressive IMO.

Hmm...there is a large hole and hot air does escape from there, so it is a vent. It's definitely not the same as the M4 GTS hood where there's the engine right underneath the vent. This hood has a 2nd layer of CF right underneath the vent (the gap is large so hot air can escape from it easily). The good thing about this hood is water will land on top of the 2nd CF layer and disperse from the holes at the side.

So it seems like the hoods for the m2 are the same as the m235? Looks pretty cool. Have you researched what other options are available?

all hoods and trunks are the same on m2 as m235/m240 and 28/30 models.

AS of right now, there are 3 carbon fiber trunks available. The new Mperformance as shown on the m2 CS is not available. Single and double CF. Lowest priced trunk is about 1200.00 usd. Use double CF if adding a GTS wing.

AS far as hoods, there are about 5 or 6 CF options. The OEM is the lowest cost, with other options such as a GTS look, GTS, and GT style hoods are also available in single and double. Single is fine.

Im on the fence and want to pull the trigger so bad on the hood/trunk. Just not worth the cost for a few lbs. Would look awesome with a widebody tho.

Hmmm. I am sure an M2 takeoff will make its way to someone's F22/23 one of these days.

Here's another hood option that I've never seen before:

Sorry for the late reply. Didn't get an email notice about new messages.

Nope. Just re-installed OEM metal 'U-shaped' thingy that locks into the OEM locking mechanism. Forgot to mention, in order to close the hood, you will need to place the hood at the lowest position, then place both hands at the edge of the hood and press down hard and fast to close the hood. And I mean hard and fast. Like kung-fu style. Otherwise you will need to open the hood again and repeat. This is due to the hood being lighter than the stock hood.
