jb4 worth it

a few weeks ago i was thinking on which tune to buy for my 228i. I was looking at options like the jb+, burger tuning stage one, jb4, and the dinan stage one. After weeks of trying to decide i came to the conclusion to buy the jb4 which imo is the best choice anyone who is trying to decide on a tune. it adds more power than any other and is priced in between the others. Dinan stage 1 imo is way too much for what you are getting and burger tunings jb+, stage 1 are on the lower price side of these tunes but for me they just didnt seem to be enough power increase to my before stock 228i. jb4 is the way to go

Pros:
  • Easy install
  • adjustable boost 0 to 4 psi
  • Very reasonable price
  • Same tune fits the N20, N26 and N55 F chassis
The red passage above should read:
adjustable boost -2 to +4 psi
because the Dinantronics Sport has a valet mode.

Also, two more 'Pros' are selling points:
- Boost is controllable on the fly via a smartphone app (iOS, Android)
- 12-inch leads to allow for more mounting options (mine is mounted to a plastic control box cover, under which I've routed the leads through an unused loom bracket. All I have to do before bringing the car to the dealer is unplug the unit, remove the cover, pop out the leads form the loom bracket, and (when I obtain it) pop on a spare cover. No re-zip-tying required.)

Mike,

I just bought the JB Stage 1 from you guys. It should be here tomorrow. Can't wait. I will post my thoughts versus stock 228i.

Received the JB Stage 1 today and installed it. Took a drive on a usual route. Definitely like the butt dyno reaction. Tried all the modes, Eco, Comfort, and Sport. I usually drive in Sport. I may not anymore. Pulls much harder than stock for sure. Faster spool too. Mini burbles in Sport mode are nice too.

Next is exhaust stuff.

Very happy. Thanks Mike.

Viffermike... been contemplating this one as well. Have you had the chance to fully dyno the car to see the difference?

Sorry for the late response; been on vacation ... I never dynoed the car I had it installed on. That said, that's not why I bought the unit -- I bought it to increase rolling acceleration and throttle response, as well as reduce turbo lag. It does all of those things very well.

I think it should be mentionned which engine are compatible with those tunes since some are not compatible yet with the B engine family. It could help newcomer determine the best tune for them.
