2014 BMW 235i  [0.00]
JB4 + Catless DP + Meth inject (Tm5 nozzles x2) expectations?

So I’m putting on a Downpipe soon, I have a steel charge pipe as well as a jb4 and run e85. I have a methanol kit sitting but wanted to bolt it up as well.
Is it worth it without an intercooler? What should I expect vs just the JB4?

do you know what an intercooler does?

than why are you asking this question?



if you have no plans to hit the track, or spend a long amount of time on it, you are fine.

The inter-cooler removes heatsoak, which is real... But if you are not doing anything to cause it, then you have nothing to worry about.

I tracked it once. Not a regular thing though. Wasn’t sure heatsoak with the stock IC (which I experience a bit especially sitting in traffic in 90+ degree weather for extended periods of time) would basically negate evreything else I’m doing and result in really no advantages.

ok, here are real world results:


At a dyno day, NY, summer, 90f and humid.

Each car ran 3 pulls...
Different cars, different setups etc...
3x 235's with 2 were FBO, 1 had dp/tune/exhaust but no Intercooler.

The car with no intercooler was anywhere from 40 - 60 whp lower than cars that had one.

Same cars at drag strip all ran similar times.... Had plenty of time between runs to cool off so heat soak wasn't an issue.

The methanol kit offers plenty of power gains (when tuned) with or without an intercooler, more power gains without an intercooler because of heat soak with the stock intercooler.

You can only gain so much power before you are at the limits of the stock turbo's.

I had my 2014 m235i on the dyno today. it has jb4, intercooler, chargepipe, catless, and made 383hp. running 92oct.
