Has anyone tried this with a Mperformance diffuser and exhaust on the new LCI 230i for 2018? I have been searching forever to see if it’s even possible, and this is the most assuring thing I have found. The only thing I have been able to find out so far is that the 2018s all have 80mm exhaust for both the 230 and 240 versions, which I would think makes this even easier without the need for a 75-80mm flange adapter

If it fits the 240i using bumper cover 1234, and the 230i uses bumper cover 1234; it will work for both.

I had done that and noticed a slight discrepancy in the part numbers which is why I was asking. Come to find out the difference in the part numbers is due to BMW now actually offering the diffuser in the left side only 230i exhaust version. Everything I have been able to find though still indicates the diffuser for a 240 and the exhaust will bolt on without modification. Thanks though! |

If you're patient you can get exhaust and diffuser under $200 easy.

However, I do not want to compromise anything that wasn't/isn't dealer endorsed I guess. |

It's almost plug and play save for the cutting of the old muffler and welding of new one. I know some were saying they needed to extend the hangers an inch or two for the new muffler to fit, but I didn't have any issues. It took two of us to kind of wedge the pins into the hangers but once it was set, all that was needed was welding. The diffuser is held in place with maybe 8 screws and 2 clips and takes 5 minutes to install.

I ended up paying $300 for the muffler and diffuser and $110 for the BMS tips. Still much cheaper than getting an MPE.

There are three 2015 228i w/ manual transmisson in a 500 mile radius of me. The one with the M sport package lacks the prem package which kind sucks. It does have the tech package, but no H/K sound. Also, 30k miles vs 20k, but yeah the exhaust switch might be a deal breaker. |

You will have to get the M perf if you want to do a diffuser swap. The non Mperf package has different mounting for the diffuser. I did a lot of research into it and I'm still waiting for the right price. The part number online for the 228/230 diffuser is different. The 235/240 stock or M perf diffuser is a direct bolt on and will allow for the 235/240 exhaust to be directly mounted with only the mentioned welding for the muffler. However if you buy new, I have been informed this will void the warranty of the exhaust.

LOL Yeah I was wondering about that. Your explanation was a bit confusing I think because you were saying the M Perf when it's M-Sport. M Perf is aftermarket parts from BMW so I was a bit confused

Has anyone tried this on the LCI 2018 models yet? I have everything lined up ready to purchase a diffuser and exhaust, but now I’ve been told that the swap won’t be as straight forward as it sounded on here with the 228 to 235 muffler. Im told the pipes are not going to be aligned and the muffler sits in a different spot so the tips wouldn’t center up right on the diffuser. Any assurances would be much appreciated since I really want to do this mod. Thanks!

Went ahead and purchased a 240 mperf diffuser and the DINAN 240 exhaust. I'll update once it's complete!
