Don't think I ever posted this here... accident photos.

After almost four (long) months, I finally have my car back from the body shop. Some guy on a cellphone was not paying attention to his surroundings and cut right in front of me. He was cited, and I was the one that suffered. The final repair costs came to $28,400. Here is a before pic, and an after pic.

Wow, I'd never want that car back after that kind of damage... good luck ever being able to sell it.

that's what i'm saying...i thought the rule was if the repairs cost near or more than the market value, it's totaled. maybe someone can clarify?

OP, was there any damage to the unibody?

It's a lease, goes back to them in a year. No worries for me.

No unibody damage, only frame rails. And I thought the rule was 80% to market value, but State Farm said no.

It should have been totaled, but State Farm said they were going to fix it no matter what (I think the buy out was far higher than the repair costs).

For Mercury, they consider the car totaled once it hits around 75% damaged. I'm assuming it depends on the insurance carrier of whether or not they want to pay to fix it or just total it and cut the owner a check.
