Exclamation DIY: Paddle Retrofit (STEPTRONIC factory option)

Figured I'd make a consolidated post on here in case someone else with a 2014 (I think only 2014 models had the STEPTRONIC option available) is looking to retrofit paddle shifters to their 2 series.

I followed this guide found on the F30 forum:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/m33a3n...30+Rev.+3L.pdf

The specific issues I came across were the following:
  • STEPTRONIC models are missing a wire from SZL to FEM, had to be added.
  • M-Sport steering wheel without Sport 8AT option needs to have 2 holes drilled in order to fit the paddles (as well as having a new backplate installed). Pictures of the holes can be seen in the album below. One hole is for the actual screw while the other fits a small peg found on the paddle module.
  • F80 M3 DCT paddles fit without issue
  • Steering wheel harness had to be replaced, two different part #s for heated / non-heated
  • The option "PADDLES_VERBAUT" had to be enabled, if you haven't coded 2TB (Sport Auto) you will need to do that as well to unlock faster shifts, "Sport +" and launch control.

Album of drilled holes, notice that the area to drill is slightly raised. You can use the module to pinpoint their exact location:
