I like having something different, but for the cost of these widebody conversions, I'd rather put some KW Clubsports and better brakes before trying to replicate the looks of a car or to try and make my car perform equal to or better than a factory M2. No point in making it look bad ass, if it doesn't perform like a bad-ass, IMO. I'd take performance mods at these rates any day over body work. At the end of the day, looks don't change the way the car behaves. The money you'd spend on this could either get you into an M2 stock, or modify your 2 series to perform the way you want it to, is all I'm saying

I agree. I put some mods into my m235i, all Dinan. If I order a stage 2 tuner box from them that would essentially make my car a Dinan S1 M235i. I'm debating getting it because I still want a M2 and feel like I would be at the point of no return, as far as money spent, although I could still get it.

All you need to do is convince yourself, lol.. But in all honesty, I don't see the value in lost depreciation, etc to make the switch. I'd prefer to dump a bit of cash into me 235 and make it really good, instead of buying an "off shelf" solution. At the end of the day, the gap just isn't big enough to justify it, for me. The 25 year old me would have traded in my 235 for the M2, though.. I've lost over $100k in cars in 10 years, I'm over it. I don't NEED newest, BEST, FASTEST anymore, it's all about form/function moving forward. The m235/40 has a lot going for it anyways..

looks cool , I mean I like it because it looks like an m2, but does that mean I shouldn't like it? lol at this point I'd be interested just to run run aggressive wheels and more rubber but leaving the m235i badge

Sorry, I don't see why you would want to make a 235/240 look like an M2.

It looks all good and stuff, but at the end of the day we should try and stop making a car look like what its not.

Just save up for a real M2

Agreed. I'm not a fan of the fangs of the m2, but that bad bumper is much nicer than the 235/240's.

Like others have mentioned, why look like a badass if you can't perform like a badass. Spend the money on mods that work for you. Bragging rights come from the track, not the car show.

The price for the whole kit with the fenders and front bumper, and rear bumper etc is 1300USD.
so no, it's not cheaper to "just get an M2"
the kit is made and produced in Taiwan, the front is 100% M2 factory spec and inter-changable

we have crazy taxes and wierd emission laws here, just to give you an idea, an M2 is about $100,000 USD while an 220i is about $53,000 USD.

and most of the guys who modify their cars do have KW coilovers and big brakes etc..

And still, no links to the source?

Forgot to include freight, fitting/paint costs and all that comes with such a kit (wider wheels/tires, suspension, etc), so yes, for anyone in NA it makes little sense unless it's what they reallly want the look. Making a car look better than it performs is never a good plan. And to do this on a 220i would be tragic, imo.

Personally, I like the M2 body more than the M240i (which I own). Specifically the wider rear fender flares (and how it adds a bit more dimension to the body) and to a lesser degree the aggressive front fascia.

I could have ordered either car (as dealer had allocations for both and was not charging above retail on the M2), but chose the M240i for it more civilized ride. Also the fact that street performance was so close between the two cars, only made the choice much easier.

Had BMW offered an appearance package for the M240i that included the M2 style body kit, I would have "ticked" the box. Buying aftermarket, not so much since fit and finish is questionable and expense for the parts, paint and install would likely total thousand$.

As an aside, I've read that the M2 may be getting a substantial power boost in the future and thus significantly separating it acceleration-wise from the current M240i. A change that likely would have made my choosing between the two cars much more difficult. A 400+HP w/ matching torque figures power-plant would be certainly be befitting the M2 IMO.

Amen to that. Same reasons I went with the M240i xdrive over the M2. For a daily, I wasn't looking for track handling to beat me up on D.C. roads. However, if there was more of a separation between the two, it would have been a tougher call. For now, near as makes no difference in acceleration and a more comfortable ride, the M240i is where it's at for me. I do like the looks of the M2 more, but an after market kit, to me, would only serve to delve deeper into "fake" M territory.

After driving an M2 on track, I will say that it is a beast where handling is concerned. Wow. I just don't ever encounter conditions in my daily life where I could exploit those figures.

A simple reverse Google reverse image search turned up with Euro Haus Thailand. Price is 90,000 Thai Baht ≈ 2647 USD painted and installed. Definitely not worth it, especially for an aftermarket Thailand-made body kit which are usually always sub-1K USD.

IMO, anyone who does this is just as bad as someone putting M badges on a 328.

You don't have a m2, get the widebody kit for the body you want the wider tires.

Your not going to fool anyone with a fake after market retro- kit to make your car look like a m2. You'll be a joke if you pull up to a meet with this and a real m2 is there.

The only thing I would want from a m2 would be the wider tire options, other than that, mods can make the 235/240 just as good or better than a m2 and you can have more options and AWD.

I don't understand why ppl buy replica m2 wheels for a 235/240 or would want to make it look like a m2 with a body kit. My .02

My thoughts exactly. The owner of the M235i/M240i with this bumper kit conversion would want to hide every time he sees a real M2.

The crazy thing is a decently optioned M240i is very very close to the price of the base M2. Why buy this conversion kit, pay for installation and paint which may end up costing you more than the M2 total, just to look silly at the end.

The 437 wheels are the best looking BMW make imo, so that's why I like them.

If the 2 series widebody kits didn't look like ricey hot garbage I'd be all over it, really I just want room for big tires on the back and don't care about it looking anything like an M2.. IND did an awesome widebodykit but the price on that was insane from what I remember

My car's going to be performance limited anyway, until the day I can get an Enzo flash like yours, Jb4 and 91 gas isn't really that much better than stock
