Got a tiny scratch in my right-front rim last month. Had a new rim put on today @BMW. And, had them do the first annual oil change (3K miles) A huge relief to have my baby made perfect again!

I opted not to get the charger in the armrest because my phone (at the time of order) wouldn't fit it. I guess that saved me about $480 USD.
could i get link and maybe pictures of how it came out?

after driving behind my boy in his Guilia and hearing the most beautiful sounding noise on the road, i got a tad bit jealous and immediately went to get a muffler delete

the general consensus on the forums and by bimmer purists is not to do it because of the drone. and yeah i won’t lie the drone is there when i’m cruising at 80mph on the highway, it isn’t something that the radio won’t fix.

the sound on the other hand is perfect. it’s like i took the muzzle off a growling dog. it makes me actually excited to start the car in the mornings and play around with the paddle shifters.

Put it in hibernation:
  • Washed
  • Tire saver cradles
  • 50 psi
  • Stabil and fill the tank, run 5 minutes
  • CTEK battery tender
  • Soft cloths under wipers (hood is up with CTEK)

See her in the Spring!

Checked the UV transmission with Amazon UV sensor, prior to doing any tinting. Set all 4 tires to 36 psi cold (39-40 when I finished the drive) due to reading comment here about raising the front pressures being beneficial. Absolutely was - super happy with the sharper turn in.

slips a little left and right...can't imagine why solved with a little foam ball on the left side for now. good indicator of charger working. pretty forgiving alignment.

Pretty much a validation of what I read online - that BMW's side windows only block around half the UV and the front windshield blocks it all.

Straight sun read 9.5. Behind the windshield the reading dropped to 0.0 and through the side glass read between 3.5 and 4.

The plastic in laminated windshields contains UV inhibitors to protect the plastic integrity, leading to virtually no UV transmission. Glass itself is much less effective in blocking UV, especially UVA.

Correct. But ... there are manufacturers now putting plastic in the side windows, with the attendant UV reductions. BMW used to be one of the "bad" ones regarding UV transmission and the only way to know if they'd joined the "good guys" was to test it myself. And the answer seems to be, unfortunately, still not good.

BMW have offered laminated glass in the 7-series before, not sure if it is on the current models. Most cars that have recently gone to laminated side glass have done so to meet FMVSS 226 occupant ejection mitigation required for 2017 models onwards, as it is harder to achieve with side airbags alone - perhaps a reflection of lower inherent rollover safety than BMW has managed to achieve without laminated glass? Laminated side glass is also somewhat heavier due to increased thickness and does present concerns to first responders when trying to access car occupants after an accident, so the benefits are not necessarily black and white.

Brushed her off and went for the first winter drive. All in all, pleased with how xDrive handles, although I did find traction control a little too intrusive in comfort mode for my tastes, but no biggie. When I want to have some fun, Sport mode seems to fix the behaviour without having to turn all the nannies off. Safety first!

You've reminded me why I moved a few hundred miles further south last year.

Did the weekly wash yesterday and then today swapped out my 82mm Motorsport Hardware wheel studs for 60mm since I'm no longer running spacers with the custom wheels. Also, installed some Power Stop Z26 brake pads. These are carbon fiber / ceramic performance street pads, so we'll see how they work.

I tried the 'Manual' shift mode for the first time. It's a whole new world of fun!

What I did to it today was park it outside, in the ******* oncoming winter, to give the contractor space to work in the garage. Seemed wrong to evict my wife's car.

I guess they have winter in Bavaria though ...
