So much better looking than the 1. Glad they dont have that huge crome piece connecting the headlight to the grill like the 3er. Very handsome. Still pricey but oh well.

The 1-series has been available for sale in NA for the last 6 model years. Between owning an e46 m3 cab, e90 330i, e82 135i and an f30 335i, I have to say the e46 and e82 have been the most fun to drive. The 1-series was nothing short of awesome to drive, too bad it wasn't a looker, otherwise I'd have kept her.

The front looks good, and the eyebrows are what they should have done with the E60, as opposed to the unfortunate "Dame Edna" look that car was saddled with.

Too bad the 1 series is ugly. This is not only (hopefully) fun to drive, obtainable and fast but it also looks excellent--that's what the 1 was missing for many people.
I'm not a super huge fan of the 1 but the 135is is a crazy fun car. And fast as shit.

Also, the curb weight does seem lower, or is that just unladen weight? <3200 lbs would be interesting. Not many cars can do that these days.

you got that right, man!! my 135is has transformed my 120 mile a day (!!!) commute. I also fucking love the way it looks. a classic BMW....sharp lines, upright, and taut. I really want to like the 2-series....but it doesn't have much personality. I like cars with character and presence...the 2er just looks like everything else

It's grown on me, especially since I bought the 1M.

To be honest, none of the post Bangle era non-M BMWs have been great lookers (with the possible exception of the E92).

That seems to be changing with the current generation. The 6-er is a looker and the 3, 4 and 5 are improvements over the previous generation as well.
Seriously?? Bangle almost single handedly butchered the brand!!

The Bangle 7?? The Bangle z4?? When it first came out, I hated the e60.

I agree. The 2 looks great on paper, and I really want to like it. But the looks are totally a deal breaker for me. The rear end looks ok, but the front end (headlights, grill, bumper) looks odd. Maybe it will grow on me, but I doubt it.

I would love a 135i LCI M-Sport! However, the interior is a bit dated. Especially without a display screen.

Let's see how the EPS is though. Oh, and it lacks BMWs naturally aspirated engine.

Agreed. My co-worker has an early build 1er and I don't like it at all. The 1series M changed things somewhat, but it's proportions were still not quite what I would prefer. The 2 is hopefully going to combine the best of the 1M and the 3 series, especially in the form of an M2 (if they do in fact make one).

Interesting observation. It may be making something out of nothing, but the timing sounds right and it's fun to speculate. A quick Google search says there is an auto show in NY in April 2015. Has BMW ever dropped hints like this in the past?

The M in the plate refers to the city of Munich.

M for Munich is true. Like I said it probably means nothing. But the timing makes for interesting speculation. A M2 concept revealed April 2015, makes for a late release in 2015 as a 2016 model?

So you're telling me it will not become a reality?

I will cry myself to sleep then tonight.

Just looked up some of their other designs...The Aston Martin V12 Zagato...good lord that is perfection.
