No I did a direct conversion from South African Rand to US Dollars. I just put the price out there for random interest.

South African cars are more expensive than US, but I was illustrating how cheap it is relatively speaking when compared to other prices of other models in SA.

I'm pretty sure there are Valencia test mules driving around, so it is most likely to be on the M235i. The M135i is available in Valencia.

Again, this is prelim info, not completely confirmed, but it gives us an idea. They're probably still 'building' the configurator anyway.

That's probably just in South Africa...

We will get the US friendly price

For example,

Convertible 135i in south africa costs 55073.67 US Dollar (550500 South African Rand)

A convertible 135i here in the USA costs $44,400.

Give or take they may have different thing standard, the difference in the e82 135i convertible is $10,673.

If we apply that to his current M235i pricing:

R503079.40 (~$50307.94 USD) - 10,673 USD =

$39,634 USD for an M235i. Given there is no 235i model, and a USA 135is is about $43,550. Then this confirms my initial thought that the M235i will most likely start at around 42k in the USA.

Why? Scott said expect the pricing to be similar to a 135i with M sport package. That, and I think since no 235i model, they will produce more M235is, so they lose less then when making 135is, which a 135is is a 135i until it hits port (so people at port have to do installations instead of from factory).

Personally? I think it will start at 41.5k not including destination, so around 42k

https://app.bmw.co.za/dws/VTS/servle...modelCode=UC92 I don't know if the link will work for everybody but according to the south african website of bmw the E82 135i weight exactly the same as the F22 M235i no real weight reduction here. 1455kg vs 1455kg for the manual. I'm a bit disappointed about this but for the rest seem to be fine. Let hope the price won`t go too crazy.

Seems that you're right. But Greenkirby21 showed a comparison of the weights with the 135i being 1570 kg.

Take with a pinch of salt i guess

well you guys have to remember that curb weights differ from country to country based on the federalized version of the cars. for example, BMW USA lists the official curb weight of the 2013 135is as 1530kg (3373 lbs). Meanwhile it is listed as 1455 kg in South Africa. Most likely the F22 will weigh almost exactly the same as the current 135is when it arrives to the US market. (mostly due to safety equipment).

the 0-60 numbers are the same/slightly slower than the outgoing E82.

I'm not sure the weight difference between the 328i and the 320i will be the same here. I mean yeah it will weigh more, but I doubt it will be close to the weight difference between the 328i and the 320i. The biggest reason for that is that I doubt the 2er will get power seats as standard.

I really wish car makers would list the weight that each option adds.

Overall length is 2-3 inches longer than the 1-series. That's about what some here had estimated, and puts just a whisker or so from where the old e46 coupe was. Good length.

I like what I'm seeing here. Munchen next summer is starting to look tempting.

It's the same engine just with a tune. You can go find an aftermarket tune for the 335/435 that'll add 50-60 HP for $400-500. But yeah, the N54/N55 engine is getting up there in age...it's really a fantastic engine though.

Looks like the M235i is wider than the 135i in front by ~1.8 in and rear by ~1.4 in.

Read post #28 for estimated conversion. The figure in the first post is a straight translation from AUS to US. US versions are a lot cheaper than AUS version.

I could even see a 220i going for about 29k USD...which is what my 128i started at when I got it in 2009
A 228i probably would start at 34k
